Overview of the semester Integral elements

Personality

looking at the work that I have produced from this semester, I have found that the research is a very important part of the design process to me before I start generating and creating my own designs. I found that I struggled more to generate ideas and designs if I had not done any research as I felt I did not have a starting point for the project.

This was especially true with my Channel 4 Annual Report because I didn’t research properly and rushed into it. This then lead to that project taking much longer than it should have.

I am interested in branding and editorial work as these are the areas within design that I enjoy the most. I have a clean and minimalistic style which I feel works best with branding because it is best if the brand is easy to remember. In the future, I would like to do branding or editorial work as I feel these are my strengths and are also the areas I enjoy most.

Success looking at the work that i have produced from this semester, I feel I have been most successful in my branding projects. I have enjoyed the branding projects the most this semester and I have found my two main interests lie in branding and editorial.

Introduction to briefs/projects Gen 2 The brief asked for a completely new identity for the company Gen 2 based in Carlisle, Cumbria. They asked for a completely different look which was corporate but could be flexible to appeal to the younger clients also.

Gingerbread Productions The brief asked to design an identity for Gingerbread Productions which is A film production company founded and consisting of Stephanie Kiewel and Ross James Perry.

Digital Janitor Studios The brief asked to design a logo for Digital Janitor Studios. A fictional company that specialises in gaming on many platforms and films.

Summer Show Posters One day brief to design possible posters to advertise summer show.

Watermark This brief asked to design a booklet for the literary festival held in Keswick, Lake District.

BOX Branding for a (fictional) company that designs and produces cardboard furniture. Box design interiors and furniture that is design-led, contemporary and environmentally friendly.

Wish Strings Re-Brand for the Jewellery company Wish Strings. Their jewellery is mostly sold through Facebook. Necklaces, Bracelets and rings with a wide range of charms are available.
