Rainbowing is a method of reclaiming land from the sea where a dredge-ship is used to project a mass mixture of water and sand into shallow areas of the ocean, building up the required height. This method means that the sand mixture can be propelled up to 65 metres.

The Jumeirah Palm Island was created in Dubai by using the form of Land Reclamation; Rainbowing. The development cost somewhere within the region of $12.3 billion. The structure began to take place in June 2001 and ďŹ nally ďŹ nished 5 years later in 2006 when residents began to move in.
Both of the Palm Islands are constructed from sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf by the Belgian company.
