How is Blackpool Rock made

1) Sugar and Glucose is boiled within a large pan. Following that, it is heated to roughly 300 degrees, a temperature which can very easily lead to severe burns/ scars, if you aren’t careful with the boiled liquid mixture.

2) Once the 300 degrees temperature is reached, the liquid is carefully poured onto a metal tabel which is known as a cooling table.

3) Once poured, the golden liquid mixture solidifies to a more solid form, similar to gel type type form which makes it easier for a person to cut into the sections that he or she reequires for that certain batch candy they making.

4) After it transformers into its gel form, the “craftsman� paints the colour dyes into parts of the gel, as he or she would roughly still need about two thirds of the mixture, as it will be required for the centre part of the rock candy.

5) Next, the mixture is then cut into the sections which i mentioned previously.

These sections are created from which parts he or she painted into the golden mixture.

The item used to cut the mass aren’t a normal everyday pair of scissors, instead a type of shears.

6) The dyed sections of the mass mixture are transported to main table, not the cooling trable.

However the table which is again used later for rolling and cutting the rock ready for packaging.

9) While the coloured dyed blobs of sugar and glucose are being flatten out, the rest of the mass left un-dyed on the cooling table from earlier, is placed on a pulling machine. It not only makes the mixture changed from a golden honey colour, it also changes it’s form again. This time dough form, with the help from the two rotating moving cyclinders and the one centre in the centre of the two which helps keep the mass in place while the machine is at work. The cyclinder on the left rotates clockwise while the one the right rotates anti-clockwise.

10) While the pulling machine is at work on the newely changed white mixture mass, some of the dyed coloured blobs for earlier are seperated and stretched. Then manilupated evenmore to form the type/ letters for the centre of the the rock candy. White strips/ rolls are used to seperate each letter, therefore making alot easier to read when the candy is squished to together to make the small candy ready to put be put on sale.

11) Futhermore, the rest of the white mixture from the pulling machine, is transported onto the main front table nearby the remaining parts of the coloured dyed blobs and the flatten out letters.

12) Part of the white mixture is rolled out, and place on top of the letters if they are the right way up on the tabel. Moverover, the letters and white layer and flipped over together as one piece. Then remaining of the white mass is placed in the centre, which is wrapped by the letter layer and the flat white layer underneath, until it forms a new sort of cyclinder shape.

13) Then remaining coloured blobs are flatten out aswell, however just in a stripe pattern, which will be then wrapped around the white cyclinder as it’s final outer layer.

14) Once it’s wrapped around the cyclinder, it’s lifted into a machine called a batch roller, this helps the person keep the candy in it’s cyclinder form. This machine contains two long cyclinders rotating inwards. At the same time the person is pulling on the rock candy into long thin strips.

15) Finally, these long thin strips are ready to be cut into smaller sticks, which are then ready to be wrapped and put on the shelves to be sold lat-
