Find Your Focus
Grier’s dance program combines outstanding training, performance opportunities, and the ability to tailor instruction to student’s interests. Providing a course of action for those wishing to pursue dance at a collegiate and professional level, and for those who choose to dance recreationally for fun and well-being, Grier’s faculty of professional dancers and dance educators extend their expertise to help each individual maximize their potential. Through the offerings of various styles of dance, including ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, improvisation, hip-hop, and tap to dancers at the Beginner through Pre Professional levels, this program nurtures students to become college and career-ready, allows students to work at a pace that meets their needs and interests, and fosters future leaders, advocates, and patrons of the arts.
Discover your artistic voice
In addition to daily classes, students perform regularly for various events, take master classes from guest choreographers and teachers throughout the year, and have multiple opportunities to audition and earn scholarships and acceptances into nationally recognized summer and college dance programs. Students are also invited to participate in the annual Grier Gala which allows them to take classes from, audition for, network with, and watch performances of professional dance companies and schools, all of which take place on Grier’s campus. Dancers in the signature program complete their academic classes in the morning, spend their afternoons in the dance studio, and have exciting opportunities to travel to cities such as New York City, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh where past invitations to perform have included The Martha Graham Dance Company, The National High School Dance Festival, The Peridance Choreography Concert, the Koresh Dance Company Artists Showcase, and more. Recognized nationally for its excellence, nearly half of Grier students participate in the dance program and many Grier graduates have gone on to dance professionally and teach for arts organizations.
