Located on a beautiful, 320-acre campus nestled in the Allegheny Mountains near the Little Juniata River, Grier School offers outstanding academics, unique signature programs, immersive learning, and a welcoming community. Our new day program for fifth and sixth graders is tailored for girls at this crucial stage in life. Here in our supportive learning environment, they will gain the confidence, knowledge, and skills they need to discover their passions and follow their dreams.
Grier Knows Girls
Research shows that students who attend all-girls’ schools experience higher levels of support from their classmates and teachers than do female peers at co-ed schools. We understand how girls learn at Grier. The day program for fifth and sixth graders is designed to provide girls with the advantages of a nurturing school community as they make the transition to Middle School. In small classes that allow each girl to thrive, projectbased, experiential learning encourages independent discovery and thinking. Our beautiful campus offers many opportunities for outdoor education. Grier fifth and sixth graders spend time in the greenhouse and pollinator garden and take field trips to local farms and the Arboretum at Penn State.
Explore New Horizons
Grier’s signature programs in dance, music and theatre, fine arts, and equestrian riding provide preprofessional, intensive study for our oldest students. Fifth and sixth graders benefit from exposure to these programs and access to Grier’s outstanding facilities. Clubs and activities for fifth and sixth graders enable them to explore a wide range of interests and activities at the conclusion of the school day. Their participation in theatre and music productions promotes friendships across the grades, making our youngest girls fully a part of the Grier community.

The fifth and sixth grade day program is housed in our friendly North Cottage, with dedicated classrooms for these girls. Faculty advisors meet regularly with students to guide them in their academic programs and all aspects of school life. At Grier, we understand that childhood is precious, and we give our girls the freedom to be themselves. There’s time for recess, play, and the joy and harmony of being together. Parents know that these years can be challenging for girls. Grier is here to provide what they need to become confident, empowered young women ready to change the world.
