t’s a busy time at Gresford Public School with preparations to farewell the six Year 6 students and fun orientation activities to welcome the new crop of Kindergarten students who are ready to start “big school” in 2016. The year 6 students – Hamish, Liza, Ryan, Shaelyn, Jack and Alana – were given a fun send-off at their farewell dinner at Gresford Bowling Club on November 25 and over the next few weeks they will visit Dungog High School as part of the orientation process. In the classroom they have been busy with assessments while also savouring their last few weeks with younger friends at Gresford Public School. "It only seems like yesterday that these lovely young people toddled in to Kindergarten,” principal Pauline Mitchell said. “We have watched them grow and learn and they have done our school proud. Their diligent attitudes to learning, their keen exploits on the
sporting fields, their creativity and talents, as well as friendliness to us all, will be missed." Next year’s Kindergarten students have attended several orientation sessions at the school designed to give them the chance to meet Kindergarten teacher Miss Mac, as well as their fellow students, while exploring the beautiful surroundings at the school. "We have welcomed another group of kindys into the friendly fold of Gresford School,” Mrs Mitchell said. “Their faces shine with excitement as they explore their new environment and meet their big Year 5 buddies who will take great care of them for the first few days next year. We welcome too their mums and dads who will also join the fold of friendly parent faces." At this stage, 10 children are enrolled to start Kindergarten next year but enrolments are still being accepted. To enrol your child, phone the school on 4938 9304.
