Designed to accommodate 500 students and 40 staff, the facilitywillfeature:

External works will include parking, road upgrades, drainage, fencing,andwastewatertreatmentsystems.

SOUTHERN ST.GEORGE WATER

SUPPLY EXPANSION PROJECT

The Government of Grenada, in partnership with the United Kingdom Government and the CaribbeanDevelopmentBank(CDB),hasofficially launched a major water infrastructure project aimed at improving access to clean drinking water, modernizing sewer systems, and strengthening climate resilience particularly in thesoutherncorridoroftheisland.

This project is a critical step in Grenada’s national strategy to enhance public health, environmental sustainability,andinfrastructureresilienceintheface ofclimatechange.

This investment reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development and climate adaptation It will not only improve the quality of life for Grenadians but also support long-term economicgrowthandenvironmentalprotection. Hon. Minister for Infrastructure and Physical Development commented:

“This project is about more than pipes and pumps it’s about securing our future. By investing in resilient infrastructure today, we are protecting our communities and ensuring that everyGrenadianhasaccesstosafewater,eveninthefaceof climatechange”

The project is expected to generate local employment, strengthen institutional capacity, and serve as a model for climate-smartinfrastructureacrosstheCaribbean ReliableWater.CleanerSystems.StrongerCommunities.

Why This Project Matters

This project aims to provide more drinkingwater,modernizesewerlines, and make our water systems more resilient to climate change, especially forthesoutherncorridorofGrenada

Contractors for both Lots 1 & 2 have mobilized.

Lot 1 works have started; Lot 2 commencesthisweek

Projected completion dates: Lot 1 – Jan 28,2026; Lot2–Feb6,2026

Terminal Disbursement Date: March 31, 2026 (no extensions allowed under currentfunding)

Africa and the Caribbean, both rich in cultural diversity andambitious spirit, have faced numerous obstacles Yet,weknow, we also hold immense potential to shape a more resilient and sustainablefuture

The fourth AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2025) was held under the theme “Resilience and Transformation: Enhancing Africa-Caribbean Economic Cooperation in an EraofGlobalUncertainty.”

The Limlair Solar Farm in Carriacou is set for remediation, with French company Smart Energy contracted to carry out the work. Funded by the UAE Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund, the $35 millionprojectaimstorestoreandenhancetheisland’srenewable energyinfrastructure

The solar PV hybrid system includes an 856kWp solar plant, 400kVA/768kWh battery storage, and supporting infrastructure Remediation will involve panel replacement, site cleaning, and recyclingofoldpanelsinpartnershipwiththeGrenadaSolidWaste ManagementAuthority

Originally slated for commissioning in July 2024, the project was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl The current effort reflects Grenada’s continued commitment to renewable energy and climateresilience.
