Cricket West Indies visit Grenada
President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), Dr Kishore Shallow, led a delegation to Grenada for a courtesy call to Prime Minister Honourable Dickon Mitchell The visit marked President Shallow’s first official engagement with Prime Minister Mitchell following his recent unanimous re-election by all shareholder members for a new three yearterm.
Dr.ShallowwasaccompaniedbyCWIChiefExecutiveOfficerChrisDehring,whohasbeenintherolefor60days, and Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe. The visit comes ahead of the highly anticipated Test series between West Indies and Australia, set to take place in Grenada from July 3rd to 7th, 2025. The series is expected to drawhundredsofAustralianvisitors,furtherboostingcricket’spresenceintheCaribbean.
During the meeting, discussions centered on the continued collaboration between CWI and the Government of Grenada in developing cricket at all levels. A key highlight was the agreement to formalize a Memorandumof Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening cricket infrastructure, grassroots programs in primary schools andcommunityclubs,andcreatingopportunitiesforyoungplayersinGrenada.
TheLandTenureRegularizationProgramintheMinistry of Agriculture and Lands, which was launched in May 2024 has been working steadfastly at fulfilling its mandate to provide deed of titles or a legal pathway to ownershipforpersonsoccupyingcrownlandsforoverten (10)yearsandwhoqualifyforsuchownership.
Over 100 individuals have received cabinet approval for theallotmentofparcelsofcrownlands.

The workshop was held under the theme “From Agreement to Action: Strengthening Eastern Caribbean SIDS Leadership in the BBNJ Ratification Process
The treaty, when implemented well, can help protect the Sargasso Sea, rebuild tuna stocks, safeguard coral ecosystems, and enhance the resilience of our coastalcommunities.
Grenada’s hosting of the BBNJ Clinic further reflects its growing leadership in ocean governance. The Government has established a Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Affairs, expanded its domestic marine protected areas, and is advancing a Blue Growth Coastal Master Plan.
The BBNJ Treaty is expected to enhance these efforts by extending conservation and benefitsharing frameworks to the high seas ensuring a more equitable, science-based global ocean regime.
