GREENSBORO FACTS • Greensboro was named after Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene.

• “Gate City” and “Jeansboro” are our nicknames due to the many railroads that intersected in the city, and WranglerTM was bult here in the 1940s.

Meeting Space Rental Based on the outlined agenda above, the value of your meeting space is $30,215.00 however, in consideration of your sleeping room block and/or meal functions scheduled, your meeting room rental will be offered at $4,000.00, with a Food and Beverage minimum of $40,000.00 and with 80% of your contracted guest rooms picked up. 80% = 324 guest room nights.

Current_Wireless Internet Access: • Registered Hotel Guest- Wireless Internet is offered complimentary for registered hotel guests by logging in under their name and their guest room number.

• Non-Registered Hotel Guest- we offer a flat daily (24 hours) rate of $10 per user/computer for those wishing to pay with a credit card.

Currently, groups that want to offer their non-registered Hotel guests wireless Internet at their own expense, we offer a discounted daily rate (24-hour period) of $7.50 per user/computer that would be charged to the group master account. For groups choosing this option, we need to know in advance the number of group users per day who will require the discounted $7.50 rate so that a wireless Internet code unique to the group can be created and given to the group attendees as the group determines.

Attrition and Cancellation Policies ATTRITION: The Sheraton Greensboro Hotel is pleased to be able to offer groups booking guestrooms more than 12 months out a 20% attrition policy. The policy asks for a review date of 10 months prior to the event with a voluntary 10% reduction at that time followed by an additional 10% allowable at the conclusion of the event.

CANCELLATION: Any cancelled event that is not covered by the Force Majeure/ Act of God clause is subject to liquidated damages. These liquidated damage fees are proportional to the amount of lost revenues that were anticipated by the Hotel and the amount of time prior to the start date of the event that it was cancelled.

We are excited to introduce you to the amenities offered around the Resort, and outline how we can accommodate your group.

To celebrate the Resort’s 20th Anniversary in 2019, Grandover unveiled $10+ million of renovations and rebranding. In addition to the major renovation of all 244 guest rooms and suites, and the Spa; all areas of the Resort were refreshed with new carpeting, wall coverings, furniture, lighting and other touches. Each of the dining options in the Resort were refreshed and in most cases rebranded – from the 1808 Bar adjacent to DiValletta Restaurant to the 19 & Timber Bar adjoining to the Golf Shop. The new Firepit patio is a welcome addition to Café Expresso.

The core goal of the rebranding is to highlight Greensboro’s rich history and culture while strengthening the Resort’s connection to the community. When visiting the Resort you will see a 100 year old denim loom that was operated by Cone Mills until 2017; a collection of vintage photos in 19 & Timber Bar featuring the industry and sporting events of Greensboro’s past; in The Gallery you will find a curated selection of fine art, pottery and jewelry from local artists; and in Café Expresso you will learn about the Wyndham Championship, Greensboro’s own PGA TOUR event.

The following proposal is presented for your review. The arrangements are being held for you with first right of refusal until August 28, 2020. If these arrangements meet with your approval; please allow us to issue a Contract which will require your approval in order to confirm the space on a definite basis

Located in the former F.W. Woolworth retail store at 134 S. Elm St., this must-see vital piece of history takes you on a journey into American Civil Rights History with vivid photography, artifacts, video reenactments, and interactive galleries. It was here that over 50 years ago, four teenage NC A&T State University students, know as the A7T Four, sat down here at the “Whites Only” lunch counter and began America’s sit-in movement that sparked a nationwide push for equality and justice for all. Today the ICRCM stands as a monument of courage and change.

CHARLOTTE HAWKINS BROWN MUSEUM

The Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum interprets the life and work of Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown – a prominent educator, advocate for social justice – and her school, Palmer Memorial Institute. The site is the location of the former Palmer Memorial Institute, an African American preparatory school established by Brown in 1902. Visitors can explore the school’s campus, uncover connections between Dr. Brown and the civil rights movement.

UNDERGROUND TREE AT GUILFORD COLLEGE WOODS

Located within the historically Quaker New Garden/Guilford College community, these woods remain a relatively stable landscape with old growth forest and at least one champion tree standing as a silent witness. Abolitionist Levi Coffin grew up north of the site and references these woods between his home and his New Garden Quaker Meeting as a place of refuge. The case of John Dimery’s escape and quick movement to Indiana in 1819 is the earliest documented instance of Underground Railroad activity. Levi and Vestal Coffin were known leaders assisting runaways going to Indiana from 1819 to 1826. The legacy of justice continued with documented anti-slavery activists serving on the initial staff of New Garden Boarding School when it opened in 1837. A runaway notice in the January 4, 1842 Greensborough Patriot specifically references the New Garden community. Even if the school was not institutionally involved, the land served as a crossroad to freedom -- the Southern Terminus for those slipping away north to Indiana.

THE GREENSBORO COFFEE CUPS

On February 1, 1960 the sit-in movement began. This historic event was commemorated by the creation of eight bronze coffee cups. Installed throughout downtown Greensboro and dedicated on the 50th anniversary of the inspired event when four African American students were refused service when ordering coffee, each bronze sculpture is placed on a stone pedestal, featuring the quote of an outstanding figure.
