t is truly an honor to serve as your President this year. It’s an exciting year as our Association will celebrate our 65th anniversary, being charted in September 1957.
To say that the last two years have been challenging is an understatement for all of us as well as our Builders Association. Dealing with the unknowns of the pandemic forced us all to modify, adapt and make changes in our daily operations. What we thought was going to be something to deal with for a few months quickly turned into two years. I know that everyone is ready to move forward finding our new “post-pandemic” norm. While we continue to deal with the potential health concerns from this pandemic, I’m not sure any of us realized two years ago the domino effect it would have on our industry, especially the distribution and supply chain challenges, along with the increasing cost of materials and the shortage of skilled workforce. As our Association sets its priorities and areas of focus for the year…we continue to focus on finding ways to support our members and work together to champion initiatives that can help address industry issues, working closely with our state and national associations. Construction Careers It is critical that we continue to build greater awareness and interest in construction careers. Working with Guilford County Schools, GTCC, Junior Achievement, Guilford County Workforce Development Board, the Community Foundation, and others...we must explore innovative ways to attract and train skilled labor. We need industry members mentoring students and providing on-the-job training opportunities. Membership We all work with companies that are not members that could benefit from the many services we provide…from networking and marketing to education and advocacy. Invite prospective members to attend our First Wednesday Member Connections and other membership events as your guest. Everyone benefits from our Association’s growth. Professional Women in Building We are super excited to officially launch our PWB Council…providing education and professional development along with networking opportunities for women in construction. Our PWB will work with other councils and committees to support the Association’s goals and priorities. Community Service Giving back to the community has always been an integral part of our Association. Since 2003, we have constructed 64 Habitat homes through our Raising Roofs initiative. A planning team will be meeting soon to discuss the opportunity to build our 65th Habitat home this year in conjunction with our 65th anniversary and we encourage your participation I would like to personally invite you to find a place to connect and get involved this year. Join us as we work together to make this a great 2022!

Professional Women in Building Council are excited to launch the W eformation of our Professional
Women in Building (PWB) Council within the Greensboro Builders Association. We were officially chartered by NAHB PWB Board of Trustees on February 7, 2022 at the International Builders Show.
There is tremendous enthusiasm and energy as we move forward with this new initiative to promote, enhance and support women in the building industry. We currently have 41 PWB members and are growing daily. Council members include female contractors, suppliers and service providers. NAHB Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) is the voice of women in the building industry dedicated to promoting industry professionalism and supporting members at the local, state and national levels. Through education, professional development and networking opportunities, PWB helps members acquire and develop invaluable leadership and business management skills that boost career success. We are planning our official PWB Council launch on Wednesday, March 23 from 4-6 pm…watch for additional details coming soon. PWB activities this year will include quarterly educational programs along with networking events at least every other month offered at various times of the day…as well as community service opportunities. Our PWB Council will work directly with other GBA councils and committees to focus on the Association’s key priorities including Construction Careers…Community Service…Education… Membership. Council membership requires being affiliated with an active GBA member. Annual dues are $100 which provide local, state and national PWB Council membership.
