Five years! Can you believe it?! September 16th, 2016 the inaugural issue of Green Bench Monthly hit mailboxes. It seems like just yesterday. We've met so many people and learned so much along the way. Tony and I aren't typically the sentimental types, but we have saved every email, letter, and book that readers have sent in over the years. It makes us smile thinking of all the connections this little magazine has made. GBM is what it is today because of our readers, contributors, and not to mention our advertisers — many of which have been with us since the very beginning. It truly is a community magazine. We're grateful for the opportunity to share stories with you and look forward to what the next five years will bring.

This month we've got your usual lineup: history (pg. 6), local businesses (all the pages), food (bagels! pg. 18), downtown developments (pg. 20), and events (pg. 22). Make sure to check out the Good With Me Festival. The festival shines a light on mental health.

Tony and Ashley Sica Publishers / Owners After the last few years, it's especially important to check in with your family, friends, and be kind to yourself.

As always, thanks for reading GBM, and even more if you share this issue with a friend. We love you, St. Pete!

Till next time,

*All are welcome on this bench.

The history of the green benches is layered. For some, it is a reminder of a painful period of racism and segregation. To others, it is a symbol of welcomeness and hospitality. We carry this name to shine a light on our city’s history and in celebration of those who work tirelessly towards a more inclusive St. Pete.
