Whatisgreen architecture?

Green architecture is the term for sustainable building both in the designing and creation processes. Sustainable building can be classified as how a building is built or an evaluation of the functions inside. The buildings and their utilities leave a significantly less amount of impact on the environment.

Why is it important?

Green Architecture is important to us, as we are going to be the ones living on this earth for the next several years. We want to be mindful of both our and the rest of the world’s environmental impact. Green buildings can help lower emissions and recycle buildings that dont need to be destroyed. In this booklet you will learn all about how green building is incorporated throughout Providence and all the features that make a difference.

Cityside is a class that all eighth graders attend at the Wheeler School. We start by learning about certain issues around Providence, and going on field trips to different organizations in the city. Then, we choose which issues we are passionate about targeting, and get sorted into groups of 3-5 students. The rest of the year is dedicated to working on our Cityside projects, which aim to address the issues that we are interested in.
