Thank you for coming to a Great Waters show tonight! We are happy you are here and part of the Great Waters family. From the newest summer staff person to the performer on the stage in front of us, we truly live the mission of Great Waters. Entertaining the Lakes Region has never been more important. Arts and culture—live music in particular—brings us together and helps restore our shared humanity. A Great Waters concert gives us a moment of joy and comfort, and creates memories that last a lifetime. We are excited about being in two distinct venues for our shows this year. Our flagship venue at Castle in the Clouds is truly one of the most beautiful, natural settings for a concert in New England. And, returning to our roots on the Campus of Brewster Academy, we are delighted to present our inaugural “Concerts in Town.” The healthiest and most vibrant communities have a strong arts presence. On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers, please join me in thanking the donors and sponsors listed in this Program book and throughout our venues. Through their generosity and support and your attendance tonight, we can bring Great Waters’ programming to the Lakes Region. I hope you enjoy the magic of music all summer long. Warmest regards,
Doug Kiley Executive Director

WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!?!?!?!?! This is a question that can be asked in many ways. You either accentuate the WHAT, WE, or DONE and come up with very different answers. I’m adding emojis for my kids and grandkids to hopefully bring a smile to your face. WHAT we have accomplished is measurable and tangible. A new 640seat tent, a new executive director, two great venues at the Castle in the Clouds and Brewster Academy, exceptional program development, securing diligent and hardworking interns, increasing ticket sales, adding dedicated new Board and committee members, building relationships with many businesses and individuals in the Lakes Region, stewarding our donors and sponsors, creating a VIP welcome area before all shows, organizing fabulous Galas, creating great office space for our staff and guests to enjoy and so much more. Quite honestly, WE have done all of these things together. Our Board, committee members and staff have spent countless hours on Zoom and now happily in-person meetings fine-tuning each and every aspect of what makes Great Waters great. This WE very much include our unsung heroes, our volunteers, who give their time to make everything go smoothly, and our consultants who always go that extra mile. So, we have DONE a lot. There is so much to be proud of and be grateful for. None of this would have happened without our community’s financial support and ongoing encouragement. You believed in and invested in us, allowing us to grow. And grow we will, with your continued support. Please think of us when you hear the music that makes you cry and laugh and want to be together. With your generosity, WE can make even more extraordinary things happen. Thank you, thank you for being part of the Great Waters family.

History, Mission, and Vision Great Waters is a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting outstanding musical performances for everyone living in or visiting the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Founded twenty-seven years ago, Great Waters presents live performances by artists representing Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Choral, and Symphonic genres, with musical presentations by vocal and instrumental artists of the highest caliber. Great Waters also provides educational opportunities for young people interested in a career in the arts. Based in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Great Waters has a rich history of offering performances under an acoustical tent on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and at many of the local indoor venues. After completing a five-year strategic plan in 2019, we embarked on a bold new vision for the live arts in the Lakes Region. We entered into an agreement with Castle in the Clouds to offer an array of summer shows on the Castle grounds, completed a $1M capital campaign, and after two years of COVID closures, joyously opened our season last year with our new Concerts in the Clouds series, under our 640-seat Losberger Tent. Over 3,000 people enjoyed shows ‘under the stars’ on this beautiful mountain top location. We are pleased to continue to execute our vision with our new Concerts in Town series in Wolfeboro this summer. Great Waters is expanding its offerings and support to middle school and high school music students. On July 28, Broadway musical theater composer and pianist Georgia Stitt will present an interactive Master Class in “Song Interpretation” to middle and high school-age students. We are increasing scholarships for graduating high school seniors who want to pursue a degree in some aspect of musical performance, production, or education. Great Waters is also active in the community, sponsoring the Street Piano Project and several other communityrelated activities. Our plans honor our responsibility to the communities around the Lakes Region and beyond and elegantly merge the old with the new. We are proud to celebrate our past and build our future with you. Thank you for joining us tonight, and enjoy the show!

Our Venues CONCERTS IN THE CLOUDS: Castle in the Clouds After extensive market surveys of our Great Waters' patrons, the Board of Directors learned that local residents and summer visitors alike longed for the days when we hosted performances in a beautiful outdoor setting under a large acoustical tent. Although wonderful concerts took place in a variety of indoor venues in Wolfeboro, the joy of outdoor music led us to seek an equally magical setting for a more permanent home. Following very thorough research of possible properties where we could recreate this summer experience, Great Waters entered into an agreement with Castle in the Clouds in Moultonboro to host concerts in their beautiful mountain setting. We customdesigned and erected a 640 seat state-of-the-art tent, with 17 foot high sides that also allows for perfect viewing from our many available lawn seats. This site offers ample parking and unparalleled views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee Mountain range.
CONCERTS IN TOWN: Brewster Academy’s Grayson Student Center and Pinckney Boat House 27 years ago, Great Waters performed its first concert of classical music, with 325 attendees, under a tent at the Brewster Academy campus. After a 14 year hiatus, we have returned to Brewster and will be performing our concerts in two locations on the campus. The beautiful new Grayson Student Center will be the location of our inaugural Cabaret Concert series and the Pinckney Boat House will be the home of our first Chamber Music performance. We are fulfilling our promise of returning to Wolfeboro for some of our concerts. Great Waters is making every effort to ensure that we are able to serve as many people as possible throughout the Lakes Region. 10

Street Piano Project hits Wolfeboro and the Winnipesaukee Waves Can you hear it? The tickling of the keys all around town? The brightly painted pianos of the Street Piano Project are a visible and hands-on way to engage our community in the joy of music. Our pianos are placed throughout Wolfeboro to invite passersby to stop and play a few notes or a whole piece at their leisure. This is the ninth summer of the Great Waters Street Piano Project and the debut of two newly painted pianos. "Notes," designed and painted by Marilyn and Randy Zimmerman, will be housed and cared for at Dockside Grille & Dairy Bar at the Wolfeboro Town Docks under the watchful eye of owner Gregg Roark. "Sail On," designed and painted by Brewster Academy artists, will be housed on the Mount Washington to sail on through their 150th anniversary year. These two new pianos join the five others in the musical fleet. Last year, two other pianos came on the streets. The women's art group, Accidental Artists, comprised of Ilona Train, Maureen Minihan, Maureen Sherbeck, Natalie Trevor, Marilyn Bodwell, Marty Koons, Jane Kelly, Ann Tracy, Christina Sakai, Sally Fleming, and Jeri Von Stein, painted the gorgeous piano adorned with loons, moose, lupines, and herons. "Music around the Lake" is housed at Butternuts under the gentle care of Sally Hunter. Dorrie Sterndale’s “Flower Power” sits outside Winni Paw Station under the care of Diane Mullen, and other pianos are outside Paul Zimmerman’s office at Clarke Plaza, in front of the Chamber of Commerce at the Train Station under the guidance of Mary Wilson and inside the Wolfetrap Grill & Rawbar owned by Jim McDevitt. Great Waters is grateful to our volunteer artists and shopkeepers who keep the music alive. We are looking for volunteers of any age who would like to be regulars, playing the piano when either the Mount is coming in to dock, or key events are happening downtown. If you would be interested, please get in touch with dougkiley@greatwaters.org. 13

The Electric Light Orchestra Experience July 23 at 7:30 p.m. • Castle in the Clouds
'Don't Bring Me Down,' 'Livin' Thing,' 'Evil Woman,' – The American ELO is widely recognized as the world’s premier tribute to Electric Light Orchestra due to their brilliant arrangements, flawless musicianship & superlative vocals. They expanded the concept of great melodies, epic song structures, and grand orchestrations where cellos coexisted with guitars, and classically tinged progressive rock intersected with hook-filled, radio-friendly pop songs resulting in ELO becoming one of the most popular groups of the 70’s and perhaps even more so today.
