Minister Welcome

Bloom Festival 27 September – 26 October 2025

The Cook Labor Government is a proud sponsor of the Bloom Festival through Tourism Western Australia’s Regional Events Scheme (RES), funded by Royalties for Regions.

RES was established to support event holders across the State with the development of events to drive tourism to regional Western Australia. The scheme plays an important role in creating a timely reason for visitors to travel to the State’s five tourism regions, activating pockets of Western Australia and creating vibrancy, while showcasing the host region’s unique and diverse attractions.

A total of 63 regional events across Western Australia have been awarded funding through the 2025-26 RES, and includes a $150,000 funding pool for the Regional Aboriginal Events Scheme, which exclusively allocates funding to events delivering Aboriginal activities and experiences.

The Western Australian Government is proud to sponsor all these regional events, which help bring vibrancy to local communities and drive visitor spend, injecting millions into regional economies.

Tourism is a key part of our plan to diversify the economy, create jobs and develop business opportunities, especially in regional Western Australia. Events play an important role in this plan and also contribute to the Government’s vision for Perth and Western Australia to be the fastest growing events destination in the South East Asia region.

The Western Australian Government sponsors a range of sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events across the state, to attract visitors and encourage them to stay longer, disperse further and spend more while they are here.

We hope everyone enjoys the Bloom Festival and takes the time to explore the Great Southern.

When you’re driving tired, you can drift in and out of sleep without knowing it. Sleep experts call this a micro-sleep and can last three to five seconds. They are the main cause of fatigue-related crashes. A micro-sleep of five seconds at 110km/h is like travelling the length of an Aussie rules football field with your eyes closed.

Where the Wildflowers are

Shire of Gnowangerup

The name Gnowangerup is derived from the Aboriginal word ‘Ngow,’ meaning Malleefowl. For thousands of years, the plains around Gnowangerup were home to the Goreng Noongars. In the mid-nineteenth century, sandalwood cutters established camps in the area, but European settlement was slow until the completion of the railway line from Tambellup in 1912. The Shire’s 100,000 hectares of farmland support a strong livestock industry and cropping enterprises in wheat, lupins, barley, canola, clover seed, peas, oats and faba beans.

Localities: Gnowangerup, Ongerup, Borden, Amelup, Cowalellup, Jackitup, Kebaringup, Magitup, Mills Lake, Mindarabin, Monjebup, Nalyerlup, North Stirlings, Pallinup, Stirling Range National Park.

Shire of Kent

The Shire of Kent is located on the traditional land of the Goreng people of the Noongar nation. Nyabing was originally known as Nampup, after the aboriginal name given to the soak in the area. The first white men to visit the area were sandalwood cutters and the Nampup soak was the location of the first land grant. Many old buildings, halls and school sidings still exist in the shire. The local community holds these historical memories close to their hearts as many families of the original settlers still reside on family farms.
