Welcome to the Otway Coast Hamlets of Wye River, Separation Creek, Kennett River, Grey River and Wongarra. Nestled into the most rugged stretch of coastline on the Great Ocean Road, these hamlets and the surrounding Great Otway National Park are waiting to be explored. Discover enchanting forest walks, crystal-clear rock pools, stunning beaches, hidden waterfalls and a huge array of native wildlife, including koalas and kangaroos. With a wide range of accommodation available, and some great dining options, the Otway Coast Hamlets region is the perfect place to relax and spend a few days.
ID
For thousands of years Gadubanud people maintained their cultural identity and connection to the Otway Ranges. More recently, since the invasion of the south-west area through colonisation, the Gadubanud people have experienced massacre and decline in ability and access to be able to care and connect with country in ways previously shared by the Gadubanud. Due to the rugged, remote and isolating landscape of the Otway region, it is no surprise that documentation of births and deaths of Aboriginal people of the region were not recorded to the same extent as other regions. However, if you listen closely enough and walk its passage with respect, this country will sing you songs of resilience and connection and through the work of Eastern Maar we will be able to manage and maintain these connections well into the future.
