I AM 12 APOSTLES COAST & HINTERLAND

OFFICIAL MAP

IAM12APOSTLES.COM.AU

YOU’RE WELCOME I AM A WILD REMINDER YOU’RE ALIVE. The 12 Apostles Coast & Hinterland will forever change you. Set your spirit free in a natural world of breathtaking beauty and a coastline being constantly resculpted. While the relentless power of the Southern Ocean sculpts a coastline that stretches beyond sight you can let go of the day to day to be immersed in the extraordinary. Feel dwarfed by vast ocean panoramas and giant offshore sea stacks. Lick salt spray from your lips and be lost (and found) in moments of pure connection – wildlife encounters, endless wave-watching, sunset over the 12 Apostles. Shape your own adventure in a land brimming with flavours of the earth and ocean. The 12 Apostles Coast and Hinterland is a special place and we invite you to #TreasureTheLandWeLove

HINTERLAND GET TO THE HEART OF OUR HINTERLAND. Head inland for lush green pastures, fertile soils and farmgates flaunting local produce and artisan fare. Let a gourmet experience at the source transform you – ruby red strawberries, handmade cheeses and single malt whisky dance through local menus. Let country towns charm you, cycle a rail trail less travelled, behold the volcanic lakes and plains, shape-shifted by nature’s power into mountains waiting to be climbed and lakes brimming with a fisherman’s bounty. Stay a few days and let this magical place and its people renew and revitalise your spirit.

BIG NATURE

I AM THE STORM-CARVED COASTLINE, THE BEAUTY OF THE WRECKAGE. 12 Apostles Coast is soul-stirring and mystical. Follow your instincts and carve your own adventure. Explore the favourites – 12 Apostles, Gibson Steps, Loch Ard Gorge, The Arch, London Bridge and The Grotto. Then go deeper to the wilds of Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands Coastal Park where you can ogle the ocean from an empty lookout and ponder your place in the world. There are dozens of lookouts and beaches where you can pause, gaze out and reflect. Amble along the Port Campbell Jetty for a jawdropping bay perspective. Chance upon wildlife and unobstructed views of Sentinel Rock and the 12 Apostles on the 3.8km Port Campbell Discovery Walk. Wander the boardwalk at the Gellibrand River in Princetown or continue to the 12 Apostles along the last 7kms of the Great Ocean Walk from here. Take the 350 steps down to Wreck Beach for eerie reminders of the sea’s treachery (anchors only accessible during low tides and calm seas).

NATURE’S GIFTS > Take the 1.2km trail from the 12 Apostles car park. Climb 86 cliff-stairs down the Gibson Steps to beach level to be dwarfed by epic cliff line and offshore stacks. > Retreat to a secluded beach with just you and your thoughts. Nest in a secret sandy cove amidst towering cliffs at Murnanes Bay in the Bay of Islands Coastal Park. | parkweb.vic.gov.au > Strap into the best seat in the house – on a scenic chopper flight to appreciate the big picture, wide-angle view of the stunning 12 Apostles Coast. | 12apostleshelicopters.com.au > Reenergise body + soul at Loch Ard Gorge, where the limestone walls of time create unexpected sanctuary in the coastal drama. > Grab a map at the Port Campbell Info Centre and take to the 12 Apostles Artisan Trail - dine in Port Campbell or the gourmet hub of Timboon where menus hero local produce. > Tick off a dusk and dawn pilgrimage to the 12 Apostles or other coastal lookouts to be mesmerised by sunset and sunrise magic.
