Built in 1837, the former home of Colonel Simon Perkins Jr. is one of the finest and most treasured examples of Greek Revival architecture in the U.S.

Just a hero from Akron. In 1978, NASA selected Firestone High School graduate Judith Resnik as an astronaut candidate, and she flew her first mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1984. Sadly, we lost Resnik on the ill-fated flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986.
