t’s finally golf season. Traditionally, the golf season in the northeast begins with the Masters tournament. This year, Mother Nature decided to give us a cold, wet Spring so the golf season had to wait until almost the first day of Summer for a consistent string of golf weather days. Many of the golf courses and golf outings were negatively impacted by the Spring weather so I hope the Summer and Fall gods will make it up to all those who work so hard to make your golf experiences enjoyable.

How about that US Open at Shinnecock Hills? Lots of drama and very frustrated professional golfers (Phil) as the golf course and the USGA setup made some of the best golfers in the world look like you and me on a Tuesday afternoon! Congratulations to Brooks Koepka, first B2B winner since Curtis Strange won 29 years ago. Built like an NFL safety, Koepka earned over $2.1 million for his week’s work while, Tommy Fleetwood, who tied the 18 hole low score for a US Open with a 63, earned a measly $1.3 for second place. Now onto Carnoustie Golf Links in Angus, Scotland for the 2018 Open Championship!

This issue we feature Concordia Golf Course located in Monroe Township, NJ. he Shore Club, located at 1170 Golf Club Road in Cape May Court House and formerly Wildwood Golf & Country Club, announces that clubhouse, and grounds renovations are nearly complete with a modernized facility being readied to greet members and guests in a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 16. Expanded golf programs, social events, and memberships debut this year, as this historic facility, under new ownership, transforms into a revitalized private golf club for the entire family.

Phase I of The Shore Club’s makeover included the refurbishment of the clubhouse lobby and Grand Ballroom. The updated lobby features new paint, wainscoting, and furniture that projects the club’s relaxed yet trendy atmosphere. Members and guests also now enjoy a fully updated Grand Ballroom that boasts fresh paint

So I’m sitting at my desk working on the first issue of Great Golf Magazine for the season when I get another email from a PR firm who wants us to include a new golf glove they are representing in Publisher’s Picks. As with all requests, I asked them to mail us a sample so we could put it to the grind to determine if the product is something our readers will find beneficial and worthy of using.

My initial thought, prior to having the actual glove in my hand, was, “How different could this golf be?” The PR firm was claiming the “second skin” glove is, “designed to help golfers enhance their grip whether rain or shine.”

I received the glove and my initial reaction with the design was wonderment as to whether the “straps” on the back hand would be the first item to breakdown on the glove. The strap design is different but I did not want to judge the glove based on its design but more on its function.

As my kids would say, “Land the plane, Dad.” Ok. I have played approximately twelve rounds with this glove and the glove continues to hold up 16

beautifully. In fact, one of the rounds was in the rain and even though I did not wear the glove to the point where it became saturated, it did get pretty wet.

Usually when a cabretta leather glove gets wet, it stretches out to the point where the finger tips strectch, get “pointy,” and the glove never dries properly to the point where it can be worn again. Wet gloves usually always shrink, the leather dries out and gets hard, and the glove loses its shape after it has dried preventing it from ever being worn again. CLUB CARE GRIP DRY If you are a golf gadget kind or guy (or gal), then this, very functional, golf accessory is something that might interest you.

There is no escaping early morning dew or wet grass after a rain shower while you are on a golf course. MAJESTIC! Heron Glen Opens Their Long Awaited Clubhouse

T

he wait is finally over! After a number of years of trying to convince the county freeholders that a clubhouse was necessary to accomodate the growth that Heron Glen Golf Course has experienced since it opened in 2002, the new 10,000 SF clubhouse is open for business!

Designed by local architect, Jeffrey A. Fleisher, the new facility has a larger pro shop, commercial kitchen and a 2600 sq. ft. dining room that will double as a grill and banquet room large enough to accomodate up to approximately 200 people. The banquet room will be used primarily for Heron Glen’s popular golf outing business. With a full time chef now on staff, Heron Glen could utilize the facility for outside purposes such as 22

weddings and other catering events.

Four offices were built to replace the two cramped offices previously used by the six managers who manage all aspects of the facility and golf course.

Golfers will enjoy sitting with a beverage in the comfortable furniture on the veranda while watching groups try to tackle the difficult, par 4 finishing hole.

Then they can move into the clubhouse for a delicious meal prepared by Chef Noel to finish off a perfect day of golf and gourmet.

Heron Glen Golf Course is managed

by KemperSports Management, a company that constructs, operates, and manages golf courses throughout the United States.

Tour Edge Hollow Body Exotics CBX Iron-Wood Set

The Exotics CBX Iron-Wood has been in play by six players on the PGA Tours so far this season as more and more professionals are looking at hollow-body designs as an option to replace traditional long irons. It was recently reported in the bag of the winner of the United Leasing & Finance Championship winner on the Web.com Tour.

"The Exotics CBX Iron-Wood on its own is a club that has already been put into play on the PGA TOUR, the Web.com Tour and the PGA Tour Champions without having any one on contract to do so," said Glod. "It is a club the best players in the world have sought out and have won with. The feedback came in almost immediately after we launched the Exotics CBX Iron-Wood in 2-5 irons that there was a demand for this iron-wood in a full set."

The sole keeps weight away from the face for a lower center of gravity and higher launch-lower spin characteristic, so even with lower lofts, Exotics CBX Iron-Woods are producing higher initial launch angles, delivering a unique high-launch, high ball speed, lowspin trajectory.
