A Message from our Bishop
Bishop Kevin V. Gresham Sr.
The R ebiRT h of T he Daugh T eR s of DesT iny
On Saturday, March 22, 2025, something special stirred in the spirit of our Church family . The sanctuary wasn’t just filled with women it was charged with purpose, potential and power Both seasoned saints and new sisters gathered under one roof for the rebirth of the Daughters of Destiny .
Our topic for the day was both a question and a declaration: “Why Daughters of Destiny?” What followed was nothing short of divine alignment .
• Women from all walks of life came with open hearts .
• New faces brought fresh energy; familiar ones brought wisdom and grace .
• The atmosphere was one of expectation, healing and reconnection .
I couldn’t have been prouder The attendance was strong, the attention was sharp and the presence of God was unmistakable .
This was more than a meeting It was a movement rekindled
The Daughters of Destiny is not just a ministry; it’s a mandate. It is a call to every woman in our house to:
• walk boldly in purpose,
• build sisterhood rooted in faith
• and rise in the authority of who God says she is .
To every woman who showed up, thank you for bringing your light . To those who couldn’t make it, don’t worry this is just the beginning. To all of us, the rebirth is here. Let’s not just remember it let’s run with it
The Daughters of Destiny - Rebirth — and the best is yet to come .
Grace in the Hard Times Finding Strength in Struggles
By Sister Sylvia B. Tyson
Everyone’s mind is on the destruction that President Donald Trump is causing in less than 3 months of him taking office. His actions are not only affecting the United States, but the world .
Even when you’re walking along God’s path of life, you’re not exempt from problems, struggles, or troubles . Difficult days are still likely to come your way. When they do, you can trust that God’s grace is sufficient to carry you through .
As a follower of Jesus, you have a different perspective on hardships While most people try to avoid troubles at all costs, you can see them as opportunities to grow in grace James 1:2-3 says “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience
A Perspective that Produces Hope
The Apostle Paul shares the same perspective as James Paul doesn’t promise a life filled with ease and happiness when you follow Jesus Instead, he acknowledges that suffering will come but encourages us to have the right mindset when it does . After celebrating the peace and grace we experience through faith in Jesus, Paul takes it a step further in Romans 5:3-4, saying “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Struggles are a part of life, but they can shape you into a person of deeper faith, stronger character and lasting hope . When you view trials through these lens, you can rejoice, no matter what comes your way
Sharing God’s Grace with Others
Your struggles don’t just grow your faith—they equip you to share the message of God’s grace with others . Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 1:4 “who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any [a]trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
Your current mess can become your future message The comfort you receive from God during hardships enables you to extend that same comfort to others when they are hurting
Paul’s Example of Grace in Weakness
It’s important to remember that Paul didn’t write these words from a place of comfort or ease . He faced immense hardships because of his faith in Jesus—rejection, slander, beatings, imprisonment, shipwrecks, and more . On top of these, Paul also struggled with a personal affliction.
In 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 he wrote “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in.”
Finding Strength in Weakness
When you face tough times, resist the urge to push God away . Instead, lean into Him . Your struggles are an opportunity to experience more of His grace in your life . Your weakness provides the perfect stage for God to show His strength So, even in the hardest moments, you can rejoice, knowing that His grace is sufficient and His power is at work
Heavenly DEI
By Brother Tony P. D. Williams
Revelation 7:9 “After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb.”
It has always amazed me that most other races in America can trace their ancestry back to China, Australia, Italy, Ireland, etc . They are so proud to say that they have visited the town or village that their ancestors lived in Further, they brag about their family surname and they are so proud of the origins . However, most African Americans can only trace their family tree to a state and city in the United States . Our surnames were given to us by the slaveowners who treated our ancestors worse than a dog .
We celebrated Black History Month while the PROJECT 2025 Administration signed an Executive Order to dismantle Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the Federal Government Several major companies like Target and Walmart have followed suit by dismantling their DEI initiatives Please note that DEI protections cover gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture, class, and RELIGION . By the way, according to recent statistics from the U S Department of Labor, white women benefitted the most from DEI initiatives not Black people
Other races have had an issue with us celebrating Black History and believe that we are perpetrating hatred by doing so. I beg to differ, just because I love my people doesn’t mean I hate any other race Just because I love my family doesn’t mean I hate your family . Just because I love the COWBOYS doesn’t mean I hate another NFL team (wink wink) Just because I love GREATER SAINT JOHN CATHEDRAL (GSJC) doesn’t mean
that I hate another church . You get the picture . How did the song “Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud” go from a song that celebrated our race and culture to other races believing it was divisive? Again, other races have always been proud of their history and culture, but when we’re “Pro-Black” we’re wrong .
Breakdown of the scripture:
• “After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count” echoes God’s promise to Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars .
• “from every nation and tribe and people and language” highlights the beauty of diversity in God’s eternal Kingdom .
• “standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb” depicts the redeemed in a position of honor and worship, reminiscent of the heavenly court
The “D” in DEI is for Dignity, which speaks to you don’t have to disrespect another race when loving your own The “E” in DEI is for Embracing, which means hold your heads high and be thankful for our differences. The “I” in DEI is for Identity, which means we were created by God with the hair, skin tone, nose and lips that made us unique . This version of DEI means showing Dignity while Embracing your own Identity .
God never said if you’re male, white, able-bodied, young, rich and Lutheran that you’re guaranteed a space in Heaven While God created human beings that look different and speak different languages, we are all His children and He loves us all the same
Thank God for “Heavenly DEI.” AMEN
I CHOOSE
By Sister Janice Shields
Tohear God’s whispers and not man’s screams and shouts To keep hope alive, while some around me are wavering in their hope To believe that regardless of what I see; what matters most is what I can’t see with the human eye … which is God hiding me in the rocks . To inhale and take a breath and exhale the weight of the world . To be planted like a tree by the river and while the wind and rain will sway my branches, I may bend, but I will not break! To look for the good things in life, despite the uncertainty that’s before me .
I believe that the same God that took care of me yesterday is taking care of me today and tomorrow . I will not take on negativity nor despair, nor give opening to the chaos and noise of this world, for this is not my battle . Surrender all to God. Speak positive and find positivity in the most difficult of things and people.
I trust God even when the way I thought things would be are not the way things are . I watch and/or listen to something light-hearted and funny before going to bed at night and not give my gift of rest a minefield of nightmares and unsettledness .
I don’t stress, eat or snack; I stop and think about the result of that action which is short lived . I never stop thanking God for His hedge of protection, favor, mercy and grace over my life, my family’s lives and all those connected to me by DNA and friendship .
I trust God for the plans He has for my life … I can’t lose . I believe that what God has for me is for me and that no weapon formed against me shall prosper . In the midst of the most uncertain time of my professional career, I choose to believe that God did not bring me this far to leave me
I must be honest with myself and with God. I feed my spirit with song, praise, affirmations and His word. I lean on my favorite scripture Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) which says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
I do not believe that evil will get the last word … for God sees all, knows all and is all
Now, what do you Choose?
The Lord Will Fight For You
By Minister Tanya Hamilton Smith
Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace”.
Several weeks ago, Bishop John Richard Bryant gave a profound and awesome message entitled “Don’t Be Scared .” This message still resonates in my spirit He reminded us of Jesus’ words in Revelation 1:17 (NKJV) which says “And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.”
Reflecting on the state of our Country and the troubling events that are currently taking place, Bishop Bryant told of a conversation he had with a Pastor who said “ I’m not watching the news anymore and I don’t want anyone telling me about what’s going on . ”
At that very moment, I felt like he was speaking directly to me As an avid News watcher for what seems like my whole life, I, like the Pastor he referenced, decided after election night that’s it for me! I’m done . I unplugged . I have not turned on CNN, MSNBC or any other National Network since .
I became so disgusted that seemingly half of this Country knowingly and willingly chose evil over good . It absolutely infuriated me to hear the sheer lunacy spoken without pause .
However, we cannot be ignorant concerning the Devil’s devices I have chosen to stay informed through local news channels and periodic online updates .
I’m sure so many of you were moved by Minister Samaria Jackson’s testimony several weeks ago She shared her feelings and struggles with the actions of the current Administration that has had a direct effect on her and her family, other Federal Government workers and frankly those in private industry as well In actuality, the entire world is affected by this Administration’s reckless actions!
We are indeed in a time where it is positively critical that we know without a shadow of a doubt in whom we Trust - Not in the Government, Not in man, but in GOD!
The honest truth is, I can’t always trust myself, but I can ALWAYS Trust God! It is GOD who is faithful and it is GOD who fights for you and I!
HE IS JEHOVAH JIREH - THE LORD WILL PROVIDE .
HE IS JEHOVAH NISSI -THE LORD OUR BANNER
HE IS JEHOVAH RAPHA - THE LORD WHO HEALS
HE IS JEHOVAH MEPHALTI - THE LORD MY DELIVERER
HE IS - I AM WHO I AM
continue on page 6
Several weeks ago, Bishop Gresham foretold us that there’s a battle coming that you don’t see coming, but God will give you the tools to fight the unseen battle!
As the children of Israel prepared to cross the Red Sea, with Pharaoh and his army behind them and the Red Sea in front of them, Exodus 14:13 says, “And Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.”
Exodus 14:14 gives us the assurance, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” This says to both you and I that because the Lord fights for us, no matter what’s going on, we can stay in peace. Guard your peace! Don’t let anything disturb your peace As Bishop has said, “God is our Guard and our Guide ” Instead of allowing situations to consume your thoughts and overwhelm you, focus instead on what the Lord will accomplish through it .
Yes, even in the midst of a Red Sea experience, a job loss, the loss of a loved one, sickness, or what feels like the greatest battle of your life, know and declare, GOD is fighting for me and with GOD on our side, we win!
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) declares, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Exodus 14:15 (NKJV) says “And the Lord said to Moses, Why so why do you cry to Me? Tell the children to go forward.” We must go forward! We won’t go back!
Deuteronomy 20:4 (NKJV) declares, “For the Lord your God is HE who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies to save you.”
In Black History Month, we were reminded of the countless number of people who sacrificed, many with their lives so that we and those who come after us can enjoy the freedoms and opportunities we now have .
Family, The Journey indeed continues to Higher Ground! We must go forward in boldness, determination, faith and an unwavering Trust in God!
In Exodus 14:16 (NKJV) God says to Moses “Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”
You must believe that if God has to part the Red Sea for you to get you to what He has for you, He’ll do it! Bishop said over 15 years ago,” if God has to raise up a Mechanic at the corner of Marlboro Pike to perform your surgery and bless you, He’ll do it! God will find a way to bless His children, each and every time, all the time. No matter what the situation is, do not be afraid!
The Lord will fight for you!
Uncomfortable Situations Produce Godly Results
By Minister Jerry Clarke
Sometimes things can happen in our lives to make us uncomfortable; i.e., pain, harshness, difficulty, awkwardness, miserableness, agonizing, inconvenient and heartbreak We all have faced these types of situations at one time or another . How we handle them displays our character and what we believe . Uncomfortable situations can create an opportunity for you to see God turn the situations around . When facing uncomfortable situations, we must trust God and let Him do His will
Most of us can agree that we were uncomfortable when President Trump took office for the second time on Jan 20 2025. On his very first day, he signed numerous Executive Orders which made millions of people uncomfortable. Three of those Executives Orders directly affected my wife and I. We know many other Federal Government employees who had to return to their offices (eliminating working from home), banning Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs and the job cuts . Very quickly, we went from being comfortable to uncomfortable . However, I have some good news .
Psalms 37:25 (NKJV) says “I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.” God is a keeper . He will give us wisdom to navigate thru any situation .
Whenever I’ve been in an uncomfortable situation, God has made a way . Three weeks ago, I got paid double on my second job Right on time! I tell you God is good God has shown me favor in uncomfortable situations which has increased my faith and trust in Him . So now when these tough times come, I know not to worry, but rather pray and do the will of God I must remind myself and you that through every uncomfortable situation, God has prevailed God has turned it all around . So why stop now? I declare in the name Jesus that any uncomfortable situation we may be in, “God have your way and make the situation better ”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) says “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
During these times, we can’t let what we see affect us. We serve a living God who never sleeps nor slumbers. He knows what we need and has always made a way .
So, even during these times, I believe God is going to cover and protect us as long as we stay in His will . These uncomfortable situations will not stop us from going to higher ground .
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A “Get To” Attitude
By Minister Sharis Blackwell
Colossians 3:23-24: 23And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Acoupleof weeks ago during service, Executive Pastor Kevin II challenged us to examine our approach to worship and begin to look at our worship experience as something that we “Get to Do,” versus something that we “Have to Do” .
When someone says “I get to do something,” it means they are expressing a sense of privilege or excitement about being able to participate in an activity or event; often implying that it’s a positive opportunity they are grateful for or looking forward to, rather than something they are obligated to do .
If I can be honest, I have to own the fact that there have been times when I have absolutely looked at some of my responsibilities through a “Have to” lens .
• “I have to drive to NC again.”
• “I have to go to work.”
• “I have to sing on Sunday.”
• “I have to pay my bill.”
It wasn’t so much that I didn’t want to do these things, I just wasn’t thinking about it as the grand gesture that it is . Perhaps, I had taken the ability to do these things for granted and lost sight of the fact that they’re all blessings that afford me the opportunities to show love and appreciation to a God that deserves my absolute best.
The truth of the matter is that, in these instances; whether going to NC to take care of a parent or visit family, going to work to teach children, singing on Sunday, or paying bills on time; these are moments that I was able to showcase the goodness and power of God, and engage in His work in a way that encourages others to do the same . This can only happen when we approach our work for the Lord and direct our praises to Him with a “Get to” mindset, with the understanding that it is a privilege and honor to serve Him
What our focus scripture teaches us is that whatever we do, we are to work at it with all our heart; sincerely, enthusiastically and cheerfully We must keep God and all that He has done for us as our motivation and our purpose
Many of you may not know, but on September 27, I celebrated my 52nd Birthday When my sister and I hooked up, she gave me a gift To know her is to know that when she gives you a gift; at times, there’s a little speech about you or the gift This time it was about both As she handed me the gift, she said, “I’m so proud of you ” and “I’m so happy about
continue on page 9
from page 8
where you are in your life ” She added, after I opened the gift, which was a necklace that included an angel wings charm; “I give you these because you’re my Angel ”
Now to know me is to know that I teared up, but my response to her was; “No, you should be proud of yourself, because one of my greatest desires is to live my life in a way that you can see how great you are and that your investment in me paid off.”
It is indeed a grand event every time God chooses us to do, to give or to go God gave His Son, Jesus gave His life and the Holy Spirit stuck around to guide us in all truth so that we would have the opportunity to live the exceedingly, abundantly and above life Now that’s an investment Since we do not do anything in and of ourselves, when God chooses and uses us; He gets to see a reflection of how GREAT He is. That’s why it’s a “Get to” moment. It is in those moments of service that we get to give His greatness back to Him
So today, let’s choose to move forward in the work of the Lord, not as a “Must Do”, but with joy and excitement because we “Get to . ”
Lift Every Voice and Sing
By Minister Samaria Jackson
The month of February was set aside for the observation and celebration of the journey of Africans in America . I thought it was for fitting to reflect on The Black National Anthem, a song written 125 years ago. It is still poignant and relevant today . Lift Every Voice and Sing – the first two stanzas are written to Africans living in America as both encouragement and direction .
The song begins “Lift every voice and sing Til earth and heaven rings, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty. Don’t give up! Stay the course because at some point, at God’s appointed time Heaven will ring and sing to us songs of liberty . Jeremiah 29:11 puts it this way – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope .” Hebrews 10:36 reminds us that “For you need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” Stay the course, individually and collectively, we have work to do .
We must remember all that God has already done . Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us . We’re reminded where our journey in this land began . “Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, felt in the days when hope unborn had died .” Isaiah 46:9-10 put it like this “Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end of the beginning. And from ancient times things that are not yet done.” The lyrics go on to encourage us about the progress we’ve already made “We are the living embodiment of the hopes and dreams of our ancestors ”
The last stanza is offered as a prayer to God. It begins: “God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Imagine the depth of the hurt, the sorrow, the betrayal that traps your voice and silences your cry ” God promises in Revelation 21:4 “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying…” He will wipe away every tear He keeps track of all of our sorrows; collects our tears in a bottle and records each one in His Book
“Vengeance is mine,” says the Lord The prayer goes on to thank God for salvation and redemption “Thou who has by Thy Might Led us into the light. Keep us forever in the path, we pray.” Like the Lord’s prayer, this prayer asks that “we be kept from temptation and delivered from evil. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee. Keep us, oh God. I pray.”
This model prayer is set to remind us that we have come this far by faith!
Amen
In the Heart of Storms A Poem
By Sister Lyneshia Johnson-Woodland
When we struggle and doubts arrive, And hope seems lost, yet you survive, Through trials press forward and tempers roar, Hold steadfast, for you can endure . The rain may fall, the winds may howl, But deep within, let courage growl; For in the darkest, deepest night, A spark of faith will bring the light .
Each challenge faced, a lesson learned, With every setback, strength is earned . Embrace the struggle, rise above, For all is woven with threads of love . In every tear, in every pain, The seeds of triumph can be sown again . So stand your ground, and face the tide, With faith as your anchor, let hope be your guide . For storms will pass and skies will clear, And on the path, you’ll persevere . With hearts intertwined, we’ll find our way, In adversity’s shadows, we’ll chart a new day . My Spirit will make the difference. “Be Intentional! Be Consistent! Be Present!”
THE SENIOR CONNECTION
By Facilitators Min. Minnie P. Rascoe and Sister Theresa Jennings
The Senior Connection is an idea of Bishop Gresham . During the pandemic, he wanted to give seniors an opportunity to communicate with other seniors without having to leave home . Prayer for First Responders
By Brother Lee Knight The Senior Connection
Heavenly Father, today we call on Your Holy and Righteous name to intercede on behalf of first responders. We lift them up to You Lord We ask that You remember then and keep them safe!
Father God, keep all first responders – the police, ambulance drivers and firefighters safe. Please give Your angels charge over them as they are helping others Guard them in all their ways (Psalm 91:11)
We pray for them and their families in times of trouble, danger and emergency situations . Protect them from hurt and harm. Shield them from the fiery darts of the enemy and allow them to operate with clarity and wisdom in their decision-making . Allow them to trust Your word . Dear Lord, bring back to their minds the training that they completed concerning safety for themselves and others Allow them to have patience, operate in integrity and safety as they extend their hands to aid others .
Father God, guide their thoughts as they put their lives on the front lines to protect and ensure safety to others . Lord, be their guide and allow them to think clearly about all involved to bring about the best and safest end to each situation that they encounter .
In the name of Jesus, we pray and say Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, today Lord we acknowledge Your loving power and tender mercies We adore You Lord and appreciate You . For great is Your faithfulness towards us . We love You Lord and thank You in advance for our marriages
Your love for the church is an example of a marriage of a man and a woman . You love the church so much that You gave Your life for it. Lord, allow spouses to have that kind of love for one another. For You created the first marriage with Adam and Eve You, Lord, ordained marriage and set it apart We confess, Lord, that we may have not given our marriages the honor and respect they deserve and for that we do apologize . We ask that You forgive us and create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us so that we can treat our spouses with the love and respect due Your name .
Lord, we thank you for our spouses Bless them and keep them each and every day Allow us to draw near to You, God, so that You can draw near to us . Allow our words to one another be pleasant and pleasing to You God . Allow us to show Your loving kindness to one another . Teach us how to love one another and be respectful in all that we do .
Today, Lord God, we are asking for Your guidance and blessings . May our love for one another become a beacon of light and boundless love . Allow your Holy Spirit to grant us wisdom to communicate honestly and often . Allow our love to grow and blossom with understanding and patience to forgive May our homes be a sanctuary of peace, allowing Your love to shine through whatever we do .
Strengthen the bonds of our love each and every day with the everlasting cords of Your grace and mercy Help us to always walk in love and humility. Sustain us and protect our relationship from evil influences. God, we ask that You protect our children and our grandchildren from hurt, harm and danger Create in each of us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us .
We give You God all the love and honor due Your name We thank and praise You for all Your goodness We ask that You continue to bind up the enemy on behalf of the families as you protect each of us . Guide our hearts and our minds, so that we may grow closer to You and to one another .

Prayer from the Womb to Adulthood
By Pastor Ruth Whitehead The Senior Connection
Heavenly Father, we come humbly before You with thanksgiving and praise . Most Holy One, we are so grateful for the gift of children and Your plan for their future Father God, You gave us inspiration and guidance for the importance of our children: 3Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. (Psalm 127:3–4 NKJV)
We take this time to thank You, Jesus, for choosing us to Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NKJV)
Young people have many challenges and lessons to overcome from birth to adulthood . As they grow older and develop into the purpose of adulthood, anoint and cover them with the Blood of Jesus Father God, order their footsteps I pray for them to have hind feet as they follow the Word of God as they build up the Kingdom of Heaven . Stand by them and don’t let them get distracted by the ways of this world . Jesus, strengthen their minds and open their eyes to see the Lord Jesus in His Word, in fullness, mercy and grace Father God, our prayers for those “From The Womb to Adulthood” are given in Proverbs 1:
1 The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:
2 To know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding,
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity;
4 To give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion—
5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction .
8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother;
Finally, I end this prayer with the words of the Archangel Michael: “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation but said, “The Lord rebuke you! (Jude1: 9 NKJV)
In the name of Jesus, we pray and say Amen.

until combined, then add more, one drop at a time, until desired tint is reached
6 Carefully spoon colored batter into one half of prepared pan; smooth with an offset spatula or the back of a spoon. Spoon plain batter into other half; smooth top Lightly tap pan against the countertop to ensure batter is as even as possible
7 Bake cake until light golden around the edges and a tester inserted into the center comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes Let cool
Ingredients
Cooking spray
1 1/4 cups (150 g.) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (50 g). almond flour
1 1/2 tsp . baking powder

1/2 cup apricot jam
7 oz ready-to-roll marzipan
Directions
1 Preheat oven to 350° and grease an 8” square baking pan with cooking spray Cut a 15” x 8” rectangle of parchment and fold in half Press into prepared pan so the crease rises up at least 1 1/2” in the center, creating a division between 2 sides of pan
2 In a large bowl, whisk all-purpose flour, almond flour, and baking powder until combined
3. In the large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or in a large bowl using a handheld mixer), beat butter, sugar, and salt on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating to blend after each addition . Beat in almond extract .
4 . Add dry ingredients and milk . Using a rubber spatula, fold just until combined .
5 . Transfer half of batter (about 350 g .) to large (now empty) dry ingredients bowl . Add pink food coloring and fold
8 Transfer colored cake to a cutting board Using a sharp knife, trim 1/2” off each side. Level top of cake so it’s perfectly flat, then cut cake in half lengthwise to yield 2 (7” x 1 1/2”) logs . Trim tops of logs so they are perfect squares . Repeat with plain cake rectangle .
9 . In a small heatproof bowl, microwave jam in 10-second increments, stirring between each, until loosened and spreadable, about 30 seconds total
10 . On a clean work surface, lay out a layer of plastic wrap about 20” x 8” Arrange marzipan on plastic wrap and top with a second layer of plastic wrap Using a rolling pin, roll marzipan between plastic wrap to a 14” x 8” rectangle (marzipan will be thin) Discard top layer of plastic wrap
11. Using an offset spatula or butter knife, spread a thin layer of jam on top of a colored cake log Arrange cake log, jam side down, in the center of marzipan so it stretches across and bisects it . Spread a thin layer of jam on remaining 3 long sides of log .
12 . Spread a thin layer of jam on top side of a plain cake log . Arrange jam side down next to colored cake log on marzipan and press logs together Spread 2 exposed long sides of plain log with jam
13 Arrange remaining colored cake log on top of plain cake log Spread exposed long sides with jam Arrange remaining plain cake log on top colored cake log and spread exposed long sides with jam
14 Using the bottom layer of plastic wrap as a guide, lift and fold marzipan up and over assembled cakes, encasing long sides as tight as possible . Pinch seam together .
15 Roll cake so marzian seam is on the bottom and cake is encased in plastic wrap . Refrigerate until cold and set, at least 2 hours or up to overnight .
16 Carefully unwrap cake and trim ends with a sharp kitchen knife Transfer to a platter
