3D IMAGING TECHNOLOGY Unlike two-dimensional images of the breast, the 3D mammogram allows breast tissue to be examined one layer at a time, detecting very small cancers.

A 3D imaging exam is very similar to a traditional mammogram, and takes approximately the same amount of time.

COMPUTER-AIDED DETECTION (CAD) Using sophisticated computer algorithms, any areas on the digital mammogram image that might indicate the presence of an abnormality are immediately highlighted.

STEREOTACTIC BREAST BIOPSY Digital stereotactic localization is computer-assisted technology that maps the site of the abnormality.

Once mapped, a tissue sample is taken immediately, speeding the healing process and improving accuracy, quality and efficiency of the biopsy.

Since breast cancer is most treatable in its early stages, it’s important for women to get regular mammograms. Ask your doctor when you should begin with a baseline screening and how often you should have a mammogram.

A LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP I am both honored and excited to enter into my term as Chair of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. For me, this is a legacy moment in many respects. I look forward to following in not only the legacy of leadership that the Chamber has demonstrated through its many years in Sarasota, but also the legacy of leadership that my firm, Williams Parker Harrison Dietz & Getzen, has demonstrated over our more than 90 years in Sarasota. It is with great pride that I follow in the footsteps of a name partner in my firm, George A. Dietz, a past Chair of the Chamber, to carry on the rich history of the Chamber in a community with an equally rich history.

More than 350 business and community leaders gathered on October 5th at The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce’s 97th Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon. The focus of this year’s event was telling the stories of its members. To do that, Chamber President Kevin Cooper hit the ground running last October, meeting with over 200 members to find out how The Chamber can help support their businesses.

He quickly found that the story of our Chamber is the story of our members.

VICE PRESIDENT BRITTANY LAMONT WINS CHAIR’S CUP

For the first time in The Chamber’s history, the prestigious Chair’s Cup Award, sponsored by Kerkering, Barberio & Co., was presented to a Chamber staff member instead of a volunteer. The Chair’s Cup, is typically awarded each year to a volunteer who best exemplifies the responsible leadership philosophy shared by The Chamber and Kerkering, Barberio & Co. This award reaffirms our commitment to continue as a positive force in our community.

So it was surprising to all, including Vice President Brittany Lamont, when 2016-2017 Chair of the Board George McGonagill called Brittany to receive this honor instead of a volunteer. Noting her long-standing career and willingness to step up to see The Chamber through its transition this year, George reaffirmed that sometimes it’s the passion of the staff that moves the organization forward.

“I love my job at The Chamber,” noted Brittany when accepting the award. “To work for an organization that has allowed me to grow and learn in this industry is a highlight of my career.”

Brittany began her career with The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce as an intern in 2010 and now currently serves as Vice President.
