COMPUTER-AIDED DETECTION (CAD) Using sophisticated computer algorithms, any areas on the digital mammogram image that might indicate the presence of an abnormality are immediately highlighted.

3D IMAGING TECHNOLOGY Unlike two-dimensional images of the breast, the 3D mammogram allows breast tissue to be examined one layer at a time, detecting very small cancers.

A 3D imaging exam is very similar to a traditional mammogram, and takes approximately the same amount of time.

STEREOTACTIC SUROS/99 BREAST BIOPSY Digital stereotactic localization is computer-assisted technology that maps the site of the abnormality. Then, a tissue sample is taken immediately, speeding the healing process and improving accuracy, quality and efficiency of the biopsy.

Since breast cancer is most treatable in its early stages, it’s important for women to get regular mammograms. Ask your doctor when you should begin with a baseline screening and how often you should have a mammogram.

As I wrap up this portion of my work life, let me say it has been an honor to serve as The Chamber’s CEO for the last 13 years. It has been a pleasure to have met and worked with so many members and colleagues that are all committed to what is best for greater Sarasota. The folks I can and will say “thanks a lot” to number in the hundreds, and I look forward to doing just that as I move on to the next adventures in my career.

In wrapping up the “Chamber exec” part of my career, I can look back to all those I learned so much from – board members, community leaders, volunteers, and staff. It is pretty cool to see individuals who were once on my various staff teams now heading up organizations, and to get emails from great people near and far wishing me the best. One of these colleagues, Kevin Cooper, will make you proud as my replacement, so please give him all your support.

YPG SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES ITS FIRST YPG SUMMIT

WHAT DO YOUNG PROFESSIONALS WANT? That’s a billion-dollar question that marketing companies around the world are spending countless hours trying to answer. For members of the Sarasota Young Professionals, a program of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, the answer is simple: professional development. On August 24, 2016, YPG hosted its first annual YPG Summit, presented

by Kerkering-Barberio. Over 175 young professionals gathered at the Sarasota Opera House to learn from local leaders about ways to grow personally, professionally, and as leaders in the community we love. Kristi Bracewell of FCCI Insurance kicked off the event with a keynote about “Building Resiliency for a Stronger Tomorrow.” Attendees then selected from nine track sessions, including “Am I Old Enough to be a Philanthropist,”“The Dollars and Cents of the Future” and “Networking: Shaken, Not Stirred.” Attendees also had the opportunity to get a free professional headshot by Jola Portraits.

YPG will be following the success of the YPG Summit with a new event series starting this Fall: “ProDev;” workshops and talks that focus on professional development issues most important to young professionals. The focus of the program is community orientation and offers an opportunity to connect with the leaders within the Sarasota County area. One day a month the class centers on a topic such as Health & Human Services, Government, Arts & Culture, Education, and Commerce & Industry. An Opening Retreat and Closing Retreat are an integral part of the experience. The class selects and carries through a project geared toward the betterment of the community.

Her strength and tenacity were keys to moving our Chamber through a successful transition. We thank you for being the absolutely perfect person for the job! To outgoing Chamber President Steve Queior, you have brought this Chamber a long way since 2003. In looking back over your time here, it is clear to see the fingerprints of your leadership. During one of the toughest economic climates the country has weathered, The Chamber answered the urgent call from its members by growing its capacity as a partner in the community to support a positive business climate. With support from

visionary investors, The Chamber launched the Sarasota Tomorrow and Sarasota Tomorrow Next initiatives—galvanizing several big wins. In fact, the initiative was so successful, the work under Sarasota Tomorrow has now become institutionalized as a key role The Chamber will continue to fill in economic development and community prosperity.

The Chamber has come to mean so much more to us: from readying our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow to preparing our future leaders to engage in this community. I am honored to be this year’s incoming Chair of the Board. I know I have “tall heels” to fill. I want to take a moment to thank our volunteer leadership, in particular our Executive Committee, who has diligently and
