Happy New Year! I hope you ushered in the New Year with excitement for all of its potential. It's 2024 and I pray your resolutions are abundantly successful!!! I personally don't "do" New Year Resolutions (it makes the gym less disappointing when I never show). I do however set achievable goals, and our goals this year have a common theme of "More in '24!" For me, the methods in which I plan to achieve my goals are important and thus purposeful. I want more out of relationships; it's my primary goal this year. To achieve this goal, I have to be purposeful in planning. Business relationships will only grow if I am involved in the opportunities presented to me. The Chamber heard all of the requests and now offers many fun and engaging activities throughout each month, thereby extending the opportunity to grow those business relationships- which in turn directly grows business. You can't make the early morning meeting - how about lunch? Dinner? A different day of the week? Ladies? LGBTQ+? Young Pro? Military? Newbie? We've got something just for you! See you soon! Signature Events 2024! Please join the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce for an evening of elegance and mystique as we celebrate the 2024 Annual Dinner and Awards night with a Masquerade Ball! The Cocktail Hour will begin at 5:00 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:00 p.m.

Register The GRCC Nonprofit Showcase highlights the many nonprofit members within the Chamber. Please join us for this showcase and learn more about the organizations and their causes, and how you can join them by donating, volunteering, or supporting in various ways.

Register Join us as early as 11 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, for the GRCC 29th Annual Golf Tournament at Summerfield Crossings Golf Club! The midway of vendors, including food samples, located around the putting green area will be open from 11 AM to 1:00 PM. The Bryan Hindman Electric Ball Drop will take place at 12:30 PM, and the tournament will have an opening celebration with shotgun start at 1:00 PM.

Signature Events 2024! Join members and guests of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce for our 2024 Legislative Wrap Up at The Regent. As the Florida Legislature's Session comes to a close, hear from key lawmakers on their experience this session, which bills passed, which did not, and the legislative impact on business.

Register Community members are encouraged to support local GRCC restaurants through dine in, takeout, or ordering delivery during the month of June. In this initiative, our goal is to increase community exposure and social media engagement for our local food & beverage establishments. In this event, participants are supporting local, having fun, getting out of their comfort zone to try new restaurants, and winning prizes!

Each year, the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) rallies the community to present the Teaching to Excellence celebration. The purpose of this event is to warmly welcome the teachers new to the Riverview community from Riverview's public and charter schools; and also to honor each of these school's Teachers of the Year.

Signature Events 2024! Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend a Political Forum. Meet the candidates as you mix and mingle, ask questions, and become educated on where the candidates stand. The evening culminates with a Straw Poll conducted by the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections.

This festive holiday event features a Tree Lighting Ceremony, photos with Santa, games and crafts for the children, and live entertainment throughout. Over 100 vendors light up the night with a holiday market throughout the square, and food trucks offering food and drink. You don’t want to miss this exciting holiday event!

Chamber Connections Networking groups are open to entire membership and members may attend for free. Visitors may attend for $10 per visit. You may attend one or all at any time.

Register Lambda Business Professionals is a social networking group created to bring LGBTQ+ professionals together to connect, support, and strengthen roots within the local community. The Lambda Business Professionals Group is a great way for LGBTQ+ professionals to show support of the LGBTQ+ businesses and to promote equality in the region. Free for GRCC members to attend. Chamber Happenings GRCC to Host Annual Dinner and Awards on Feb. 2, 2024 The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) will host their exciting Annual Dinner and Awards on Friday, February 2, 2024, at The Regent. This year’s theme is “Masquerade Ball,” for an evening of elegance and mystique. The Cocktail Hour will begin at 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM, with the Dinner and Program beginning at 6:00 PM. The bar, sponsored by Christopher Ligori & Associates, will be serving beer and wine, and a delicious Charcuterie Board will be available during the Cocktail Hour. In the Know Key Takeaways from State of American Business 2024 US Chamber of Commerce

Free enterprise was the star at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s State of American Business event this week. The Chamber celebrated free enterprise for being the best system in the world at enabling success and ensuring our future. Its “biggest winners are all of us. Our families, our communities, our country, and our world,” U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Suzanne P. Clark declared.

“‌ The State of American Business is optimistic. And this country, its citizens and leaders, and our partners around the world need to hear it,” Clark added in her fact-filled defense of free enterprise and its benefits. Why it matters: Markets benefit millions of people every day. Competition drives collaboration and creativity. “Failure leads to learning—and is often a prerequisite for success. Winners take their profits and find new problems to solve,” Clark explained. “Competitors learn from others’ success and drive continued advancement.” ‌

Be smart: Free enterprise has given rise to innovations that have improved the quality of life. We have more choices in goods, services, and jobs, and these benefits are shared broadly, Clark said. Most – 98% – of the value of new technology goes to the people who use it, while the company or entrepreneur gets 2%. ‌

Free enterprise also generates the economic growth needed to “pay for education, defense, basic research, transit and infrastructure, and the social safety net,” Clark added. “It fuels philanthropy and funds the arts, entertainment, and culture that enrich our lives. Most importantly, growth puts more money in people’s pockets so they can care for their families and pursue their goals.” ‌

Bottom line: “Those who believe in free enterprise—those who have lived it and been lifted by it—must stand up and say so,” Clark said.

In the Know America Works - US Chamber of Commerce A National Crisis by the Numbers Right now, there are too many jobs without people to fill them. As a result, businesses can’t grow, compete, and thrive. The U.S. Chamber and Chamber Foundation's America Works initiative is mobilizing business and government to swiftly address the crisis. The latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that thousands of people are entering the workforce. This is good. However, labor force participation does not match what it was before the pandemic. If the percentage of people participating in the labor force was the same as in February 2020, we would have 2.2 million more people in the workforce today—and this shortage is impacting all industries in nearly every state. If every unemployed worker took an open job in their industry, there would still be millions of open jobs. Where did the workers go? During the COVID-19 pandemic, early retirements and less immigration has left the nation in a worker deficit. Plus, boosted unemployment benefits, stimulus payments, and child tax credits during offered during the pandemic padded the finances of some previously employed workers, and they no longer need to work, or in some cases people have adjusted to a single-income household lifestyle. If every unemployed person in the country found a job, we would still have 3 million open jobs. How did this happen? At the height of the pandemic, more than 120,000 businesses temporarily closed, and more than 30 million U.S. workers were unemployed. Since then, job openings have continued to climb, while unemployment has slowly declined. (Read full article here).
