Ambassadors are highly visible, prestigious volunteers who serve as the Chamber's primary liaison to Chamber members. Considered the goodwill arm of the Chamber, the Ambassador Team plays an essential role in member recruitment, communication, and retention. Each Ambassador is charged with conveying member needs, questions, and concerns to Chamber staff, keeping our Chamber in line with our members' desires. Upcoming Signature Events The Central Hillsborough County Chamber of Commerce has a full calendar of Signature Events designed to showcase your business, allow you to make important connections, to serve the community, and to keep you informed of the political landscape of Hillsborough County. One of the best marketing tools the Chamber offers is the opportunity for your company to sponsor a Chamber event. This advertising opportunity allows you to establish brand association with Chamber events, achieve publicity on social media and with local press partners, connect with the community, and develop new business relationships. Community members are encouraged to support local CHCC restaurants through dine in, takeout, or ordering delivery during the month of June. In this initiative, our goal is to increase community exposure and social media engagement for our local food & beverage establishments. In this event, participants are supporting local, having fun, getting out of their comfort zone to try new restaurants, and winning prizes!

Each year, the Central Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce rallies the community to present the Teaching to Excellence celebration. The purpose of this event is to warmly welcome the teachers new to the community from local public, private, and charter schools; and also to honor each of these school's Teachers of the Year.

Are you interested in Government Affairs? Would you like to help advocate for local business owners? If you would like to be a part of this newly formed CHCC Government Affairs Committee, please email CEO@riverviewchamber.com and you will be added to the contact list for future communication and meeting schedule. The purpose of this committee is to serve as a vital platform for reviewing County, State, and Federal laws that may or can impact local businesses. The committee's aim will be to facilitate an in-depth analysis of proposed legislation, advocate for policies that promote economic growth and entrepreneurship, and provide a forum for members to voice their concerns and suggestions regarding legislative matters.

Are you, or a member of your organization, a military veteran? We want to recognize you! Please click here to submit your information. Each month a military veteran is recognized at the CHCC Monthly Luncheon. We also encourage you to participate in the Military Affairs Committee!

Military Recognition Michael “Mikey” Robert Blewett Jr. is currently on staff at Extraordinary Church and is the Campus Pastor at Recovery Church Movement Brandon. He has been married to his wife Jennifer for 14 years and they have 3 boys, Michael (12), Chance (10), and Elijah (7). Born and raised in the Tampa Bay Area, Michael joined the United States Army in June 2008 where he was trained as a medical laboratory technician. Michael completed his distinguished military service in July 2022. His assignments included: Biomedical Research Sergeant, Fort Rucker, Alabama, Point-of-care coordinator, Fort Carson, Colorado, Microbiology Specialist, Yongsan, Seoul, South Korea, Medical Laboratory Technician, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Chamber Committees Military Recognition (cont’d) Michael’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 awards), Army Achievement Medal (9 awards), Good Conduct Medal (3 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NonCommissioned Office Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Throughout Michael’s military service, he has volunteered in various capacities with numerous different organizations in the local communities to which he was assigned.

Michael participated in numerous district parades and other community outreach events for the local school district in Widefield, CO. He also volunteered his time in the local elementary school assisting in organizing and setting up festivals, field trips, field days and presentations. Michael served as a youth baseball and flag football coach. While Michael was assigned to Fort Rucker, Alabama, he volunteered as a youth baseball coach and was a firefighter with the Battens Volunteer fire department and served as the secretary of the Coffee County Firefighter’s association.

Michael spent time as a service leader with HighPointe Church, Enterprise, Alabama in the HighPointe Kids ministry.

In December 2023, Michael received his Bachelor of Science degree, in Psychology: Addictions and Recovery from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia.

The Central Hillsborough County Economic Development Committee is a specialized group established with the primary goal of fostering economic growth, prosperity, and sustainability. The Committee collaborates to identify opportunities and address challenges related to economic development. Its responsibilities include conducting research and analysis to assess the local economic landscape, identifying key industries or sectors for growth, developing strategies to attract investment and business development, and advocating for policies that support economic vitality and the Chamber. The Committee also plays a pivotal role in implementing initiatives aimed at job creation, workforce development, infrastructure enhancement, and promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.

Chamber Happenings CHCC Hosts Nonprofit Showcase On March 16, the Central Hillsborough County Chamber of Commerce hosted a Nonprofit Showcase for its nonprofit members. The Showcase was held in collaboration with the well established Winthrop Pop Up Market that is held monthly for 8 months of the Year. The Chamber’s goal was to create an event where the nonprofit members could share information about their individual organizations, and the public would learn how they could donate, support, and volunteer for these community organizations.

Chamber Happenings The Central Hillsborough County Chamber of Commerce hosted their monthly luncheon on February 27, 2024, at the Winthrop Barn Theatre in Winthrop Town Center. The February luncheon was sponsored by Corporate Member, Tampa Electric Company. Following the opening welcome by CHCC CEO, Ny’Kole Krivda, Pastor Craig Swartz of Redeemer Church gave the invocation. Rich Rohde of R Processor, Inc. presented the month’s military recognition of Michael “Mikey” Blewett of Extraordinary Church. Past Chair, Michael Broussard of The Flying Locksmiths, delivered the Board Chair message and recognized the 25 renewing members.

The TECO Director of Regional Affairs, Jimmy Adcock, spoke to the crowd, and introduced JW Wyche, TECO External Affairs Manager, who spoke about TECO’s Storm Protection Program. The 15 new members were introduced by Board Member John R. Mayhew of Mayhew Mediations.

Ron Akers of FruxPay and Elena Westrop of Charity Clothing Pick Up addressed the crowd presenting the the upcoming Annual Golf Tournament and explaining the many ways the members can become involved. Ny’Kole Krivda returned to the mic and spoke of the upcoming Nonprofit Showcase and encouraged members to come out for the event.

Chamber Happenings The event ended with Michael Broussard presenting closing remarks and the drawing for the door prizes. Meeting partners were Fancy That Specialty Linens, Gerardo Luna Photography, and MJI Media. The delicious lunch was prepared and served by CHCC member, Frankie’s Italian Deli.

In the Know Florida Legislature Passes Multiple Florida Chamber Priorities, Making Florida Even More Competitive Florida Chamber sees passage of multiple Chamber priorities that create regulatory certainty, improvements in education and workforce, protect critical infrastructure, further address affordability issues, improve access to healthcare and more as Florida continues its path to be the state other states look to for leadership and economic growth TALLAHASSEE, FL (March 8, 2024) — The 2024 Florida Legislative Session saw passage of several Florida Chamber priorities and the largest budget in Florida’s history as Florida’s economy continues to surpass revenue expectations and welcomes $4.48M in economic growth per hour, making Florida the top state in the nation for income migration – by far.

“The world continues to watch Florida as it remains the national model for economic growth, quality of life and competitiveness,” said Mark Wilson, President & CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

“Free enterprise isn’t free, and the Florida Chamber wholeheartedly thanks Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, House Speaker Paul Renner, Governor Ron DeSantis and many in the Legislature for helping move the Florida Chamber’s competitiveness agenda forward again this session as millions of Floridians will be better off because of their leadership.”

The Florida Chamber continues to unite the business community to defend the progress made and continue the momentum gathered over the last year towards several long-standing policy priorities to make Florida more competitive.

In the Know “It’s incredible what gets accomplished for Florida when the Florida Chamber unites the business community like we did again this year and I’d like to thank the members of the Florida Chamber, as well as local chambers of commerce and trade associations who joined with us to make Florida even more competitive,” said Keith Koenig, Chairman of CITY Furniture and Volunteer Chair of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “Advancing the Florida 2030 Blueprint is our focus, and on behalf of the Board of Directors and members of the Florida Chamber, I’d like to thank Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature for working together to make sure the right things happen in Florida to help local businesses continue to grow and diversify Florida’s economy.”

One of the Florida Chamber’s top priorities this legislative session was to provide regulatory certainty and consistency for local businesses by addressing local policies that have a detrimental impact on local businesses and their employees. As part of our goal to make Florida the safest state in America, the Florida Chamber led the fight for the preemption of inconsistent and dangerous workplace safety standards contained within HB 433 around heat exposure, which became necessary after a county in Florida contemplated a first-in-the-nation, local workplace heat safety standard. Workplace safety compliance already falls to the federal government through the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act), including workplace heat exposure. The Florida Chamber has led from the front on the issue of workplace safety through our Leadership Cabinet on Safety, Health and Sustainability and does not believe a patchwork of regulations around the state leads to our end goal – being the safest state in the country.

Also included in HB 433 was an important provision to proactively eliminate the jobkilling and cost-increasing policies we have seen in California, New York, and Illinois from coming to Florida by preventing local governments from mandating how job creators schedule employees, commonly referred to as predictive scheduling, and interfering in the employer-employee relationship. Finally, HB 433 eliminates the uncompetitive practice of so-called prevailing wage mandates, or the ability of local governments to mandate wages or benefits on private employers beyond what is required by state or federal law through their purchasing or procurement agreements. Employers compete for talented employees in the marketplace, and free states should never be bound by what overreaching governments think is best.
