The Newport String Project continues its signature Newport County Concert Series on Saturday, February 8th at 3pm at and Sunday, February 9th at 3pm at Trinity Church (Honyman Hall). This vibrant program will feature the project’s resident ensemble, the Newport String Quartet, performing works by Purcell, Beethoven, Shostakovich, Jacquet de la Guerre, O’Carolan and Tabakova.
set of lesser known works by Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Henry Purcell and Turlough three contemporaries performing in the courts of Europe in the 1600s Alongside, the quartet will perform Beethoven’s String Quartet in c minor, op. 18 no. 4 and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 1. The program also includes Dobrinka Tabakova’s “The Smile of the Flamboyant Wings”.
