People’s Credit Union Leads 2nd Annual Day of Purpose

Employees donate time and talent to raise awareness of homelessness across Rhode Island

MIDDLETOWN, RI (September 24, 2025): To support those facing housing insecurity and homelessness in Rhode Island, People’s Credit Union recently partnered with twelve nonprofit organizations across the state for their 2nd annual Day of Purpose. All People’s branches, including the Member Service Center, were closed on Thursday, September 18th, for employees to volunteer over 500 hours of their time.

Employees also held a clothing drive where over 400 pounds of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing were collected.

“At People’s Credit Union, being a catalyst for positive change means using our resources and expertise to make a meaningful difference,” said Sean Daly, Head of People’s Credit Union. “At our second annual Day of Purpose, our team members once again put purpose into action, collaborating with community organizations that are helping fellow Rhode Islanders who face the struggle of housing insecurity every day.”

“We were delighted to be a partner site again this year for People’s Credit Union’s second Day of Purpose,” said Heather Hole Strout, Executive Director of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. “We‘re proud to stand with our friends at People’s in working to be catalysts for positive change in our community.”

“The MAE Organization for the Homeless was honored to partner with People’s Credit Union for their Day of Purpose. The energy and dedication of the volunteers made a real impact in helping us serve Rhode Islanders experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Collaborations like this remind us that when the community comes together, we can bring hope, dignity, and tangible support to our neighbors who need it most,” commented Tuni Schartner, Executive Director.

PEOPLE’S CREDIT UNION NAMES KELLY MATTESON HEAD OF DEPOSIT SERVICES

Brings extensive customer service experience and a high level of analytical and process thinking skills

MIDDLETOWN, RI (July 16, 2025): People’s Credit Union has appointed Kelly Matteson as Head of Deposit Services. Reporting to the Head of Member Delivery & Marketing, she will oversee Deposit Services activities and processing, including the IRA program, the overdraft privilege program, and new deposit account opening and maintenance , as well as ATM/Debit cards, ACH settlement, remote/mobile check deposit and ATM balancing

“A veteran of Rhode Island community banking, Kelly is just the right leader for our deposit services team,” said Bill DeWitt, Head of Member Delivery & Marketing “We are always looking to improve how PCU operates and her fresh perspective and mix of branch, deposit operations and auditing experience will be a great asset in those efforts. ”

Ms. Matteson brings with her over 15 years of banking experience in increasingly responsible roles at Webster Bank, Washington Trust, and BankNewport. She began her career in retail banking, where she built a strong foundation in customer service and branch operations before transitioning into the areas of Deposit Operations and Audit. Most recently, she was at BankNewport, where she held several roles, including Assistant Branch Manager, Deposit Operations Supervisor, and Internal Auditor. Ms. Matteson is a graduate of Rhode Island College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology .

PEOPLE’S CREDIT UNION PROMOTES CASSANDRA ANDERSON TO HEAD OF MIDDLETOWN BRANCH

Brings a Track Record of Driving Growth Through Strong Leadership and Member Service Skills

MIDDLETOWN, RI (August 14, 2025): People’s Credit Union announced the appointment of Cassandra Anderson as Head of Middletown Branch. Reporting to Terri Raymond, Head of Retail, Ms. Anderson will be responsible for the successful operation, leadership, and daily oversight of the credit union’s Middletown branch. In her new role, she will drive new member development while ensuring the delivery of an exceptional member experience by empowering the branch team through effective coaching, guidance, and mentorship.

“In her previous role as Head of Member Operations, Cassandra proved her commitment to ensuring both member satisfaction and high employee morale by fostering a motivated, collaborative environment,” said Terri Raymond, Head of Retail. “I know she will bring that same dedication and strategic skill set to leading the Middletown Branch to new levels of growth and success. ”

For 18 years, Ms. Anderson has held consistently more senior roles in the financial services industry, beginning as a Branch Assistant at Bank Five. She then moved to Branch Manager at Citizens Bank, Sales and Service Manager at First Citizens Federal Credit Union, and Loan Officer at Santander Bank before most recently holding the position of Head of Member Operations for the Middletown Branch at People’s Credit Union.

A graduate of Bristol Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Management, Ms. Anderson is also a Committee Member for Lucy’s Hearth’s Fall for Lucy’s Hearth annual fundraiser, helping local families find stable housing and prevent homelessness.
