Newport, RI (AUGUST 2023) – The Newport Historical Society and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Newport County are thrilled to announce the record-breaking year for The Newport Show, raising $375,000.
Over 500 guests enjoyed the Gala Preview Party on Friday, July 28, 2023 and had a sneak peek at over forty dealer’s booths. Throughout the weekend, one thousand visitors enjoyed a break from the summer heat to shop for a wide array of antiques, art, and exquisite objects.
The Newport Show was presented by Gala Preview Party sponsors, Meg Braff Designs and Franklin & Company Design Associates. Preview party supporting sponsors included Newport Lamp & Shade Company and Audrain Hospitality. Show Sponsors were BankNewport, Coastline Trust Company, Horan Building Company, Kirby Constructio n and Kempenaar Real Estates, Inc. Media Sponsors included American Fine Art Magazine, Antiques & Fine Art Magazine, New England Home Magazine, and The Public’s Radio.
"It was great to be back home at St. George's School" said Show Chair Anne Hamilton. "We were thrilled with record-breaking turnout for both the Gala and the weekend. Most importantly, it was the best year of support to date to benefit two important Newport non-profits."
The Newport Show is the main fundraiser for its co-beneficiaries, the Newport Historical Society, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County. Proceeds from sponsorships and ticket sales support Newport’s distinguished past and its historic future. To date, The Show has raised over $3M, which is divided between these two worthy non-profits.
Since 1854, the Newport Historical Society has collected and preserve d the artifacts, photographs, documents, publications, and genealogical records that relate to the history of Newport County, to act as a resource center for the education of the public about the history of Newport County, so that knowledge of the past may contribute to a fuller understanding of the present. The market leader in regional air mobility will restart scheduled service to the “Sailing Capital of the World,” with flights from Westchester, NY on June 22nd
From touring Gilded Age mansions, enjoying fresh lobster rolls, or strolling above the shoreline along the Cliff Walk, there is no end to delights in Newport, Rhode Island. The service returns on June 22nd, and Tradewind Aviation invites weekenders, vacation homeowners, and anyone intrigued by the opulent history, engaging culture, and coastal setting of Newport to fly to the “Sailing Capital of the World” in style.

The Rhode Island Business Group on Health (RIBGH) was awarded a $50,000 grant by the Rhode Island Foundation to support advocacy operations as the group launches its campaign to build business and community support for healthcare reform. RIBGH promotes and advocates on behalf of employers in Rhode Island for affordable, efficient, and high-quality health and wellbeing benefits, policies and programs.

Sakonnet Coastal Bike & Stroll: A Car-Free Community Event for All Ages and Abilities in Portsmouth, RI
Portsmouth, RI - [August 16th, 2023] - Bike Newport invites all to attend The Sakonnet Coastal Bike & Stroll, a rare opportunity to bike, walk or run along scenic Park Ave and The Hummocks on Portsmouth, RI without any cars on the road. Families, children, and individuals of all ages and abilities are urged to enjoy this 2-mile expanse of coastal road transformed into a safe and enjoyable route for non-motorized transportation.
Bike Newport and the Island Park Preservation Society are hosting this free community event to celebrate public spaces and demonstrate the strong public interest in having safe and connected infrastructure for bikes and pedestrians that is separated from cars. Chris Barker, Director of Development at Bike Newport and co-coordinator of the event, shared: “We welcome hundreds of delighted riders each year for our car-free ride on Newport’s Ocean Drive, and we’re eager to bring this joy-filled community experience to Island Park in Portsmouth”.
The event will take place September 9th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The car-free route has no prescribed starting or ending point, allowing all to join where they meet it. The route encompasses Park Ave from just after Mason Ave, through to the railroad overpass at Anthony Rd (entrance to Common Fence Point), and connecting directly with the separated bike lane crossing the Sakonnet River Bridge from Tiverton.
Participants are asked to kindly register for free on Eventbrite to attend the Sakonnet Coastal Bike & Stroll. Donations are welcome to support the event and Bike Newport’s bike safety education programs and advocacy for more bike-friendly infrastructure on Aquidneck Island.
