FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Middletown Public Library Launches “Waves of Giving” Campaign to Support New Library Enhancements

Middletown, RI - March 10, 2026 - The Middletown Public Library has launched the Waves of Giving Campaign, a community-wide effort to support equipment, technology, and program enhancements in the town’s new library building.

The Town of Middletown has funded the purchase and renovation of the new library facility at 110 Enterprise Center. The Waves of Giving Campaign focuses on equipping the new spaces and expanding the opportunities they will provide for the community.

The new library will introduce spaces that do not exist in the current building, including a dedicated Teen Center and Teen Gaming Room, a Children’s Room and Children’s Program Room, quiet study and meeting rooms, and flexible gathering areas.

Through the campaign, the Library is also seeking support for a hands-on Innovation Center, a space designed for cooking, crafting, digital design, and creative technology. Additional fundraising priorities include technology access, furnishings, outdoor learning spaces, and program resources that will help bring the new building fully to life.

“The building itself represents a major investment by the Town,” said Library Director Kimberly Usselman. “The Waves of Giving Campaign allows the community to help shape what happens inside it - from creative learning spaces to enhanced technology and programming.”

Donations may be directed toward specific areas of the new library, and donors may choose to be recognized on the Waves of Giving Wall, which will be prominently displayed in the entrance of the new facility for a minimum of ten years.

Gifts may be made through the Friends of the Middletown Library, a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, or directly through the Town of Middletown. Multi-year pledges are also available for larger gifts.

“This campaign is about elevating what the new library can offer from day one,” said Joan DeFinis, Chair of the Board of Library Trustees. “Community support helps ensure that these spaces are fully equipped and ready to serve residents of all ages.”

Community members can learn more about the campaign, view giving opportunities, and access donation information by visiting: middletownpubliclibraryri.org

For questions about the campaign or how to give, contact the Middletown Public Library at 401846-1573, admin@middletownlibraryri.org, or middletownpubliclibraryri.org.
