As we close out another fiscal year at the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, we have so much to celebrate! Because of YOU, our Chamber is proof as to just how much can happen when a community chooses to come together and collaborate! This year was not simply about maintaining tradition, although we certainly did some of that. We also introduced new ideas, launched some new events, and had the courage to step away from some things we had simply outgrown. We challenged ourselves to think differently and to be entrepreneurial, and the results have been extraordinary! What makes the Lehigh Valley Chamber special is not any one program or event. It is the people behind it! It is the volunteers who raised their hands to join the councils and committees and then dedicate so many hours. It is also the leadership teams who bring vision and energy to each affiliated Chamber. We are so thankful for
the small businesses who are involved in the Chamber who are taking risks and creating so much opportunity and also the large companies investing in the Lehigh Valley. It is also the nonprofit organizations that strengthen the fabric of our community every single day, and our government leaders who help all of us because they share our deep belief in collaboration. Together, you have created a Chamber that is not only growing, but it is on fire! One of the things I have come to appreciate most during my time as Chair is that the Chamber is far more than a business organization. It is a place that welcomes ideas and actions so that we can truly make an impact for our communities.

Having worked in senior living for 20 years, I have had lots of conversations with individuals at various stages of their lives about aging. Whether it be about themselves, their parents or someone they know, everyone has a story.
One of the common themes in these conversations is about avoiding a nursing home. While no one ever wishes to be in a nursing home, the reality is that people do often need to be there. Possibly the individual didn’t have family that could care for them or their health declined to a point that required a level of 24 hour care provided by a licensed nursing home. Furthermore, in Pennsylvania if someone does not have the resources to pay for care, a nursing home is often the only option as Med-
icaid is not available in Assisted Living facilities in Pennsylvania.
Declining health is part of aging. However, being proactive during midlife and beyond can make the declines much more manageable. One proven way to be proactive is healthy eating. Healthy eating can increase the likelihood of reaching age 70 free from chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease as well as boosting cognitive and physical health. In recognition of this, the LVCC Healthcare Committee is pleased to provide a “What’s in My Food?” Webinar on June 15th. We hope you can join us to learn more about how healthy eating can impact your health and help avoid or at least delay the need to be in a nursing home.

Main Street in Hellertown is set to take on a meaningful new look—one that honors history, strengthens community pride, and creates a welcoming sense of place.
As the nation approaches the United States Semi quincentennial, communities are finding ways to reflect on 250 years of resilience and shared identity. In Hellertown, that reflection will be visible through American flags displayed down Main Street—simple in concept, but powerful in impact.
A street lined with flags does more than enhance aesthetics. It creates a shared experience. For residents, it reinforces pride and belonging. For visitors, it signals a community that values its heritage and cares about its future. Each flag represents the values that
define both the nation and this community—service, perseverance, and unity. Initiatives like this also play an important role in strengthening Main Street itself. They encourage local investment, support small businesses, and contribute to a vibrant, inviting downtown.
As Hellertown joins in commemorating this historic milestone, the flags serve as a visible reminder that strong communities are the foundation of a strong nation. It’s a simple gesture with lasting impact—one that brings people together and reflects the pride of a community moving forward, together. The Chamber Foundation is so happy to invest in these flags and many other projects on every main street in the Lehigh Valley!

Capital Blue Cross enhances collaboration with Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Co. by covering Humira and Stelara biosimilars
Capital Blue Cross has expanded its efforts with the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company to make lower-cost biosimilar alternatives to Humira and Stelara available to commercial members.
Capital’s commercial prescription drug plans now cover two biosimilars available from Cost Plus Drugs, reflecting the health plan’s continued focus on improving affordability and access in the specialty drug market.
“By expanding our work with Cost Plus Drugs, we’re giving Capital Blue Cross employers and members access to lower-cost alternatives to some of the most expensive and commonly prescribed specialty medications,” said Gary Petruzzelli, Vice President of Pharmacy Strategy and Services at Capital Blue Cross. “Biosimilars represent a meaningful opportunity to reduce overall healthcare spending, and this initiative helps ensure those savings reach people who depend on these medications.”
In 2022, Capital became the first insurer in the nation to cover prescriptions filled through Cost Plus Drugs, an online pharmacy selling medications at transparent prices based on drug acquisition cost plus a small standard markup. With its latest announcement, Capital becomes the first health plan in Central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley to make these lower-cost biosimilar options for Humira and Stelara available to commercial members through their prescription drug plan.

· Adalimumab-fkjp, an interchangeable biosimilar for Humira, currently priced at $423 through Cost Plus Drugs (two 40 mg/0.8 mL pens). Humira’s current list price is about $8,000 for a 30-day supply.
· Starjemza, an interchangeable biosimilar for Stelara, currently priced at $360 through Cost Plus Drugs (one 45 mg or 90 mg/0.5 mL dose) for a 30-day
supply. Stelara’s current list price is around $30,000.
Actual member cost-sharing depends on the individual’s pharmacy benefit.
What is a biosimilar?
Humira and Stelara are biologic medications, a class of drugs made from living cells, and commonly prescribed to treat chronic inflammatory and autoimmune conditions such as psoriatic arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.
Biosimilars are similar but not identical to their original biologics. Like their biologic originator, biosimilars go through clinical trials and are required by the FDA to show the same effectiveness and side effects.
The major difference is price. Biologics account for nearly half of U.S. prescription drug spending, despite representing only a small percentage of all prescriptions. Biosimilars are generally cheaper than biologics, with cost savings ranging from 10% to 37%.
As more biosimilars become available, they’re playing a growing role in helping patients and employers manage prescription drug costs.
Starjemza became available through Cost Plus Drugs in November 2025, and Adalimumab-fkjp has been sold through Cost Plus Drugs since March 2026.

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) has been awarded a $1 million Dual Credit Innovation Grant from the Shapiro Administration to expand its tuition-free college credit programs for local high school students. The funding is part of a statewide $21 million investment aimed at removing financial barriers to higher education. The project consists of a single-phase interior fit-out of second-floor shell space within an existing facility. Victaulic is currently utilizing the adjacent portion of the demised space for ongoing manufacturing operations, requiring careful coordination to ensure minimal disruption throughout construction. The project will be supported on-site by a full-time superintendent, along with a dedicated full-time assistant to ensure efficient execution and oversight. Jerdon Construction is proud to partner with Victaulic on this project and remains committed to delivering high-quality construction services while maintaining safety, efficiency, and collaboration throughout the renovation process.
