Charting a Collaborative Path Forward
It’s an honor to serve as the new Chair of the Chamber, and I’m excited for all that lies ahead in the coming year! Tom Groves was an impactful Chair over the past two years and we were lucky to have benefitted from his leadership – thank you Tom! We owe a sincere thanks to each and every Chamber member as well. Your ongoing support and dedication to our region’s growth are what make The Chamber so strong.

That success is driven by our members and our shared commitment to building a vibrant, thriving business community. As we look ahead, I’m especially energized by the opportunities we have to deepen collaboration across the Valley. By working together with other outstanding organizations and partners, we can amplify our efforts, complement each other’s strengths, and continue to move the region forward.
This spirit of partnership will be a guiding focus for me throughout the year— whether it’s through joint initiatives, strategic forums, or simply creating more space for conversation and innovation. It is such an honor to be able to work closely with Tony and the talented team at The Chamber!

PC Floors Brings Top-Tier Flooring Solutions to Allentown with Newest Showroom and Warehouse Launch
Grand Opening Marks Company’s First Expansion into Pennsylvania
If you’ve driven past 7277 William Ave in Allentown lately, you may have noticed something new: a sleek, state-of-the-art showroom buzzing with energy and stocked wall to wall with flooring solutions. That’s because PC Floors, a well-established name in the flooring industry, has officially opened its doors to the Lehigh Valley community.
Founded in 1979, PC Floors has built a reputation over four decades as a go-to source for contractors, builders, flooring installers, and design professionals. With locations across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, the Allentown showroom marks their ninth location and their very first in Pennsylvania.
A Floor Above the Rest
So what sets PC Floors apart? According to CEO Judah Spitz, it’s all about accessibility and expertise.
“We’re thrilled to bring flooring at your fingertips to Allentown,” Spitz shares. “Whether you’re a contractor looking for bulk materials or a homeowner starting a renovation, our goal is to make the process smooth, fast, and enjoyable.”
PC Floors offers a rare combination in the flooring world: massive inventory, same-day delivery, and a knowledgeable staff who actually know flooring inside and out. With over 12,000 square feet of showroom, warehouse, and workspace in the new Allentown facility, they’re well equipped to handle everything from large-scale commercial projects to small-scale residential updates, including decking and decking supplies, now part of their expanding product line. The space is managed by
Leibish Weinberger, a flooring expert with years of industry experience and a reputation for stellar service. “We’re here to make it easy,” Weinberger says. “Our customers don’t need to walk in with all the answers. We help them get there, quickly and confidently.”
For Pros and First-Timers Alike
PC Floors is best known in the contracting world for their wide selection of hardwood, vinyl, custom flooring, decking materials, supplies, and equipment and for being a supplier that pros actually like working with. “We know the rhythm of job sites,” says Spitz. “We’ve built our service model around what contractors really need: availability, clear communication, fast turnaround, and no guesswork.” But PC Floors is also welcoming to homeowners and design-minded shoppers, offering expert consultations and ongoing grand opening specials for those navigating flooring choices for the first time. The Allentown showroom was designed with both professionals and everyday customers in mind.
Boosting Local Business
This expansion isn’t just a milestone for PC Floors. It’s a win for the local economy. The company’s investment in Allentown is creating new jobs, fueling the local supply chain, and contributing to growth in the construction and home improvement sectors across the Lehigh Valley. And PC Floors is already getting involved in the local business scene. In partnership with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, the company hosted a Grand Opening celebration and ribbon-cutting event where community members, contractors, and homeowners
alike were invited to tour the new facility, meet the team, and see the offerings up close.
More Than a Store.
A Resource.
With over 200,000 square feet of combined retail and warehouse space across the Northeast, PC Floors isn’t just a supplier. They’ve become a trusted resource for contractors and builders who want access to materials without the wait, and for homeowners seeking expert advice without pressure. That commitment to service, speed, and clarity is what fuels their growth and what they hope to bring to every project in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
PC Floors Allentown is now open at 7277 William Ave, Allentown, PA 18106.
Come in, take a look, and see why so many contractors and customers across the Northeast have made PC Floors their go-to flooring partner.
Visit us and claim your $500 Storewide Discount Card!
All construction professionals are invited to stop by and claim their $500 Storewide Discount Card, good for use throughout the year. Just visit the showroom to pick it up in person.

SMALL BUSINESS COUNCIL
Mary Stevens, EZ Micro Solutions Small Business Council Board Member
Empowering Local Business Through Partnership and Innovation
Being part of the Lehigh Valley Chamber and the Small Business Council has been a deeply rewarding experience. EZ Micro Solutions has proudly supported the Chamber since 1994, and I’m honored to continue that legacy as an active member. From attending manufacturing conferences to exploring the future of AI in business, I’ve seen firsthand how collaboration and innovation fuel our local economy.
Supporting and empowering local businesses isn’t just a professional responsibility—it’s a personal passion. As a former business owner and now a part of EZ Micro, I understand the challenges entrepreneurs face. That’s why I believe so strongly in the power of community and strategic partnerships.
Receiving the Excellence in Business Award (EIBA) this year is a tremendous honor. It reflects our unwavering com-
mitment to customer success and our dedication to delivering excellence in IT services. At EZ Micro, we don’t just provide technology—we provide peace of mind.
To fellow entrepreneurs, I offer this reminder: “You can have everything, but you can’t do everything.” That’s where we come in. By outsourcing your IT to a trusted partner like EZ Micro, you gain the freedom to focus on what you do best—growing your business.
This recognition isn’t just about our achievements—it’s about what we can accomplish together through the Chamber. I’m excited for what’s ahead and proud to be part of a community that champions small business success. I look forward to continuing this journey, supporting fellow entrepreneurs, and helping our community thrive.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE
At the 2025 Lehigh Valley Sustainability Summit, we proudly recognized EBC Printing & Signs with the Environmental Innovation Award for their outstanding commitment to sustainable business practices.
EBC Printing & Signs has emerged as a leader in eco-conscious printing, seamlessly integrating environmental responsibility into every aspect of their operations. From using recycled paper and biodegradable inks to investing in energy-efficient equipment, the company has redefined what it means to be a green business in the printing industry.
Their initiatives go beyond products and processes — EBC enforces strict internal recycling policies and optimizes production to reduce waste and conserve resources. Not only do they empower clients with sustainable options, but they also actively engage the local community in environmental education and green initiatives.
EBC’s holistic approach to sustainability sets a powerful example, proving that innovation and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. Congratulations to Murtaza Jaffer and EBC Printing & Signs for setting the standard and inspiring others to follow suit!
HEALTHCARE COMMITTEE
Robert Pickell, CarePatrol Healthcare Committee Member
Hydration and the Elderly: Why Dehydration Is More Dangerous Than You Think Dehydration in older adults is common and often underdiagnosed. Understanding its effects and prevention is crucial for their health and safety. Seniors are more vulnerable to dehydration because of a reduced sense of thirst, certain medications, decreased kidney function, chronic conditions, and physical or cognitive limitations. Symptoms can be subtle, including dry mouth, headaches, fatigue, confusion, dark urine, low blood pressure, or sudden weight loss. Severe cases can lead to UTIs, kidney problems, falls, or hospitalization. Seniors should aim for 6 to 8 cups of fluid daily, including water, herbal teas, low-sugar fruit juice, brothbased soups, and high-water-content fruits.
In senior living communities, hydration is part of daily care through scheduled water breaks, fluid offerings with meals, and staff education. For family caregivers, offer drinks throughout the day, flavor water with fruit, link hydration to medication times, monitor urine color, and keep fluids accessible. Hydration is often overlooked, but it’s one of the most impactful daily habits for older adults. Whether your loved one lives independently or is exploring senior care options, hydration should always be a priority.

TALKING BUSINESS WITH TONY IANNELLI: SOMETIMES CONSISTENCY IS ENOUGH IN LIFE
By Tony Iannelli | Special to The Morning Call PUBLISHED:
I love to walk the Lehigh Parkway as often as possible. As busy as my schedule is, it turns out it isn’t as often as I would like. But on most days as I drive to the parkway, I notice something very curious.
I see a longtime friend, Mike Chomik, out sitting in his open garage. Mike retired sometime ago, and he has a propensity to enjoy a good cigar. The first few years I would drive by his home, there Mike would be, spring, summer and fall, alone sitting outside his open garage door in cigar smoke heaven. Based on the fact that he’s outside every day, I’m assuming his wife doesn’t share the same passion for the cigar’s alluring odor.
As years passed by, I noticed more and more people sitting with Mike smoking cigars and actively engaging in conversations. Most of them also retired. Each one pretty darn successful in their own right, and I’m sure filled with stories about events, mostly past and some current.
It made me aware of two things. Number one: We humans innately search for consistency. To these guys, knowing the garage door will be open and Mike will be sitting there on his folding chair, that’s something they can count on. So, when they need interaction, companionship or someone to share something important in their life, they know Mike and a couple of guys will be at the ready. Ready to listen intently because they, too, have stories. We all have stories that we don’t wanna let go of. I don’t know if our rec-

It confirms what I’ve been feeling more and more lately, and that is that people love to talk about the past. Maybe it’s because unlike today, the past is reliable, and our heavenly interpretations provide wonderful relief from the juxtaposition of the world today versus world past.
Take the movies. Today you can go on an app, dial up your favorite movie, sit on your sofa, grab something to eat, and presto … It’s relaxation time. When many of us were young, going to the movies was an all-day experience. We had to walk downtown, which in itself was an hour of self-discovering. If the weather was bad, usually, we pleaded with a less enthusiastic parent to drop us off at one of the local theaters.
The theaters back then were amazing monuments to entertainment. Most had large lobbies with, by today’s standards, a small yet amazing food counter. Alive with the sounds and smells of popping popcorn and a variety of dreamed about candies and soft drinks.
By comparison the smallness of those little counters of the past provided more than enough pleasure. Speaking of more than enough, 50 cents was more than enough to get everything you wanted. A snack bar sugar overload that you clung to until you were nestled in your seat. All this without the financial anxiety that a snack bar trip causes today.
But the experience didn’t stop there. Once
was coming and it would be entertainment heaven in no time.
The newsreel was usually about some great thing that America was doing abroad. Or some spot on the globe where we were winning a war, signing a treaty, saving a country or building some massive structure here at home.
And there before your eyes was Bob Hope on a massive ship in some foreign country entertaining our admiring troops. Old reliable Bob Hope cracking jokes surrounded by beautiful movie stars, and you could see these young Americans so far from home brimming with joy. Old reliable Bob let Americans know everything was all right in the world because your country was number one, and that big screen proved it.
For me after the movie, the excitement was just beginning. Most of the restaurants were downtown so there was a huge choice of places where you might have just enough money to get a hot dog or a hamburger. Or you could stop at Witwer-Jones Sporting Goods Store, and dream about a new glove or baseball bat. There was nothing like the smell of those old sporting goods stores. The leather of all the baseball gloves that magically filled the air. Those magical visits downtown have provided me with a lifetime of memories.
So back to reliable, cigar smoking Mike. You see, we humans want reliability and consistency. Whether it’s a visit to C. E. Roth in
success in the incredible 80-plus year history of Easton’s London Shop.
There is a monument on every main street. The Roxy Theatre in Northampton. The Heintzelman Funeral Home in Hellertown. The must-mention incredible, no frills, rock solid Mercantile Club in Emmaus. All great examples of monuments that let us know, through their very existence over time, of everything still good in this world. When we need them, they’ll be there.
So, let’s all strive to be monuments like my reliable, loving, tissue in her dress sleeve grandmother, Toolan. Or the recently passed Monsignor Murphy who did God’s work for so many years in the Allentown region. Or our parents who work so hard for us and probably couldn’t even imagine the amazing things we have in our lives today. They may not have been flashy, but they were solid as a rock.
I’m gonna work hard in my final act here at The Chamber to hopefully be a monument. I’m not sure if I deserve it. I’m not sure if I’ll even make it, but when I look around, I’ve noticed it doesn’t have to be on the national scale. It doesn’t even have to be on a community wide scale. It can simply be sitting outside your garage, cigar in hand, surrounded by friends to let the world know, it’s all gonna be OK.
As long as you’re surrounded by friends you enjoy and the people you love, it really
insightful, it’s engaging - it’s business like you’ve never seen before!

It has been a true honor to help lead a Chamber so deeply committed to strengthening our local economy, supporting small businesses, and fostering the kind of community spirit that sets our region apart.
Over the past few years, our team has worked with passion and purpose to leave a meaningful, lasting impact. We’ve provided scholarship funds to deserving local students, empowering the next generation of leaders. We proudly gave back to local firefighting organizations this past fall, following a devastating fire that shook our community—standing with those who protect and serve us every day. And we’ve celebrated the growth of our business
community through ribbon cuttings that mark exciting new beginnings.
Just last month, we honored outstanding local leaders and businesses at our 32nd Annual Spirit Awards—and wow, what a night it was! The energy in the room, the mutual support, and the pride in each other’s successes perfectly captured the heart of this Chamber.
Some of my most cherished memories come from our holiday events, where businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors came together not only to celebrate but to connect. These moments of unity and collaboration are what truly make this community special. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and the momentum we’ve built. I cannot wait to see where this organization goes next— and the people it continues to inspire.

4 Ways to Help Employees with Chronic Pain
Its causes are too numerous to list. It can cripple a person’s body, state of mind, bank account, quality of life, and job productivity.
It’s chronic pain, and in so many ways it’s the hurt that keeps on hurting.
“Chronic pain’s causes are truly limitless,” said Dr. Jeremy Wigginton, Capital Blue Cross Chief Medical Officer. “The cause could be orthopedic, neurologic, or even cancer. But whatever triggers it, chronic pain takes a huge toll, and not just on the body. Coping with the challenges that come with constant pain mean its harm can often extend to people’s mental and financial health.”
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports that those with chronic pain are four times likelier to suffer from depression or anxiety. And according to a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine, people with chronic pain carry twice the suicide risk.
Then there’s the pocketbook pain. Research published by the NIH concludes that people suffering from severe pain spend $7,726 a year – or $644 per month – more than people without pain.
Costs, Containment, Compassion
Those extra bills aren’t limited to an unfortunate few; chronic pain afflicts nearly 52 million American adults, according to the U.S. Pain Foundation. And the NIH says insufficient or unnecessary efforts to mitigate that pain account for more than half of the country’s wasted healthcare dollars.
All of which makes for bad math for U.S. businesses: The Journal of the American Medical Association calculates an annual hit to the U.S. economy that easily exceeds a half-trillion dollars.
Given the sizable swath of the workforce with chronic pain, it’s likely impacting someone at your company, which means your healthcare spend – and bottom line – is also suffering.
But employers may be able to help by considering these options:
1. Offer flexibility: Many suffer spans where their chronic pain is more intense. Allowing remote work or flexible hours during those spans can make employees feel supported.
2. Urge employees to take their regular breaks: Encouraging employees with chronic pain to listen to their bodies and take time to pause can help them recharge when the hurt is at its worst.
3. Educate: We often cannot see what causes chronic pain, and the pain itself is invisible. So some employees may struggle to fully understand its impact on their coworkers. Educating your staff about chronic pain can help reduce stigma.
4. Offer health plan options: This begins with a health insurance plan flexible enough to offer a variety of coverages and approaches to address an employee’s specific chronic pain.
Capital Blue Cross offers many members with chronic pain:
· network specialists that can help determine treatment recommendations;
· comprehensive pain-management program arrangements with respected regional providers;
· coverage of many prescription medications to manage the pain; and
· help in navigating a variety of available resources, such as transportation assistance.
“The key to managing chronic pain is identifying its true cause, and then navigating through what can be a confusing maze of care options toward the treatment that best suits the individual,” said Kathy Wolfe, Capital Blue Cross Senior Director of Care Management. “And that’s precisely what we help our members do here at Capital.”
