GBC Hosts Transportation & Economic Opportunity Summit at Baltimore Convention Center

Organized under the theme of “Connecting our region/Revitalizing our core,” the summit is designed to provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the future investments in transit and the transformative development projects that will revitalize our region’s core. The event will highlight the estimated $6.5 billion in economic investment slated for the Downtown area over the next five years.

Planning and executive leaders across the business, real estate, sports, cultural, and entertainment sectors will unveil their plans for modernizing transportation networks and such landmark attractions as the National Aquarium, Harbor Place, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, and Orioles Stadium – which recently came to an agreement with Governor Moore and the Maryland Stadium Authority to revitalize the Camden Yards complex and keep the team in the Downtown core for the next three decades.

“The summit gives us the opportunity to highlight the vision and substantial investment in our region's core, Downtown Baltimore, and to engage directly with the trailblazers who are making it a reality,” said Mark Anthony Thomas, President and CEO of the GBC. “Baltimore is on the cusp of an incredibly exciting transformation, and we are bringing these changemakers together to provide a holistic view of the work in progress. The event will feature addresses from government leaders that include Acting Assistant Secretary of Transportation Policy Christopher Coes, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski Jr., and Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott as well as engaging fireside chats covering eight major projects that will shape the future of Downtown Baltimore.
