CATCH THE TAGGED FISH FALL 2026 STONE LAKE & VET’S MEMORIAL PARK Get your favorite lure ready and see how lucky it is to catch a tagged fish from Stone Lake or Vet’s Lake. With help from the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Dept, the Great Bend Rec still has 13 tagged fish at Stone Lake and 12 fish at Vet’s lake. If you catch a tagged fish, you will need to take a photo of the fish and you, and e-mail it to the e-mail address (gfitzpatrick@gbrec.net) on the tag along with the tag number printed on the tag. Participants will receive an e-mail back within a couple of days informing you how to collect your prize. After taking the photo and getting the tag number you may cut the tag off and release the fish or keep it if you like. Each tag number will be assigned a prize for that particular tag. In order to participate in this event all participants must follow all the regulations and Kansas licensing requirements for fishing in the state of Kansas set by the Kansas Wildlife & Parks Department. Prizes will vary from gift cards, fishing tackle, outdoor gear, and more. These donations will be provided by the Great Bend Rec and future sponsors.

Get your favorite lure ready and see how lucky it is to catch a tagged fish from Stone Lake or Vet’s Lake. We still have 13 fish that have not been caught in Stone Lake and 12 fish still in Vet’s that have not been caught since last spring. Once again, a big thank you goes out to the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Department for helping the Great Bend Rec with this program. If you catch a tagged fish, you will need to take a photo of the fish and you and e-mail it to the e-mail address (gfitzpatrick@gbrec.net) on the tag along with the tag number printed on the tag.

After 24 incredible years with the Great Bend Recreation Commission, we’re celebrating the retirement of someone who has been so much more than our Accounting Director. She has kept the numbers in line, the payroll moving, and the books balanced—but her impact goes far beyond accounting. Over the years, Vandy has organized classes, spearheaded events, supported countless programs, and played a part in the success of our community in more ways than we could ever count. Her dedication, creativity, and willingness to jump in wherever she was needed have made a lasting impact on Great Bend Rec and the people we serve.
