GUTTMACHER INSTITUTE
2016 ANNUAL REPORT: FACT AND IMPACT
2016 was a year of transition and tumult for sexual and
reproductive health, both domestically and globally. We began the year with optimism, hoping to forge continued progress by introducing exciting new research into ongoing policy debates. But when the U.S. election brought in an administration and Congress largely hostile to the issues on which we work, we had to adjust—quickly and decisively. For now at least, our focus is on fighting to maintain what we’ve achieved. In this fight, facts are our ammunition. Armed with high-quality research and reliable evidence—the heart of Guttmacher’s work—we can change minds, expose misinformation and challenge harmful policies. When lives are at stake, facts count more than ever.
