Banking on Growth: How Broward and Palm Beach Are Powering South Florida’s Next Chapter South Florida’s continued economic expansion is reshaping the region’s banking landscape, particularly across Broward and Palm Beach counties, where population growth, business migration and evolving industry demands are driving new opportunities in areas such as commercial and industrial (C&I) lending. For Banesco USA, a Florida-based community bank with more than $5.5 billion in assets, that momentum is translating into strategic investment across key markets and business lines. Over the past five years, the bank has nearly tripled in size, fueled by deposit growth, expanded lending capabilities and a deliberate focus on relationship-driven banking. That growth is especially evident in Broward County, where economic activity has accelerated alongside corporate relocations and continued strength in logistics and industrial sectors. Employment in the county has risen more than 8% since 2020, with gains across business and professional services, trade, transportation and logistics. At the same time, industrial fundamentals remain solid, with low vacancy and steady absorption underscoring sustained demand. Banesco USA has a local banking team and office located in Plantation and led by

16

SEPTEMBER 2026 | LMGFL.COM

Joshua Montagna, Senior Vice President and Broward Market Executive. “South Florida continues to attract businesses and entrepreneurs from across the country, and Broward is a key part of that growth story,” said Calixto “Cali” Garcia-Velez, President and CEO of Banesco USA. “Our focus is on building long-term relationships and providing the kind of local insight and responsiveness that helps clients navigate expansion, investment and changing market conditions.” Central to that effort is the bank’s continued investment in its C&I division, which serves a wide range of industries including manufacturing, wholesale, retail and logistics. As more companies establish or expand operations in South Florida, demand for flexible financing solutions — from working capital to equipment and growth financing — has increased. Further north, Palm Beach County presents a complementary growth story. Once viewed primarily as a seasonal destination, the market has evolved into a year-round business hub with a more diverse economic base spanning finance, real estate, healthcare and agriculture.

Joshua Montagna, Calixto Garcia-Velez, and Roland Valdivieso of Banesco USA.

That transformation has created new opportunities for local banks that understand the nuances of the market. Banesco established its Palm Beach presence several years ago with a mandate to support small and mid-sized businesses, real estate developers and entrepreneurs. Since then, the Palm Beach banking team led by Senior Vice President and Market Executive Roland Valdivieso, has built a loan portfolio exceeding $200 million, reflecting strong demand for relationship-based banking solutions. In all markets, local decision-making remains a key differentiator. As consolidation continues across the banking industry, many institutions have shifted credit decisions outside of the markets they serve. Community banks, by contrast, are often able to provide more direct access to decision-makers and a deeper understanding of local conditions. “Every market in South Florida has its own dynamics,” GarciaVelez said. “Being close to our clients—both geographically and in terms of relationships—allows us to structure solutions that align with their specific goals.” Beyond C&I, Banesco has also expanded its small business lending platform, including entry into the Small Business Administration (SBA) space. The addition of an experienced SBA team and infrastructure has enhanced the bank’s ability to support entrepreneurs at different stages of growth, from early

expansion to more established operations. At the same time, the bank continues to invest in technology to improve efficiency while maintaining its high-touch service model. Digital tools are helping streamline processes such as credit analysis, enabling bankers to spend more time advising clients and less time on administrative tasks. As South Florida’s economic trajectory continues upward, the interplay between regional growth and local expertise is becoming increasingly important. In markets like Broward and Palm Beach, where industries are diversifying and competition for capital is intensifying, banks that combine scale with on-the-ground insight are well positioned to support the next phase of growth. For Banesco USA, that means continuing to expand thoughtfully by deepening its presence in key markets, strengthening core lending platforms and maintaining a consistent focus on long-term client relationships. The South Florida holiday season is truly unique. While much of the country bundles up against the cold, we celebrate with a massive parade of boats festooned with colorful lights. On Saturday, December 12th, the 55th annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade will once again take to South Florida’s waterways to entertain and delight all in its path. This year, country music duo LOCASH takes center stage as the parade’s grand marshals. In our cover story, Preston Brust and Chris Lucas share their excitement about being part of Fort Lauderdale’s most beloved holiday tradition, along with stories about their music, friendship, and their own holiday celebrations (hint: they involve Christmas pajamas and classic movies). In this issue, we explore our ever-evolving dining scene, share the best in local fashion, and learn about the growing popularity of pickleball. Lifestyle also showcases South Florida’s most talented interior designers and checks in with radio personality Paul Castronovo for this month’s Weekend Edit. The holidays are also about giving back, so we’re spotlighting Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County, which celebrates 40 years of helping families build brighter futures in 2026. And in Final Thoughts, we share the story of Jared Ross March, whose Team Jmared Foundation continues to help cancer patients and their families by assisting with financial support for the non-medical needs that arise around treatment. Whether you’re heading out to watch the boat parade, gathering with friends and family, or finding ways to make a difference in your community, I hope this issue serves as the start of a wonderful holiday season for you and yours. Cheers,

CÉCIE offers bespoke headwear designed in Miami and handcrafted in Mexico

PHOTOS COURTESY OF CÉCIE

Conceived in Miami and handcrafted by master artisans in Mexico, CÉCIE (also known as Cecie Atelier) creates headwear anchored in quiet elegance, symbolism, and intentional design. Rather than treating hats as seasonal accessories, the brand approaches millinery as an authored form of wearable art. At the heart of the atelier’s identity are its signature Panama and flat-brimmed Cordobés silhouettes. Woven from authentic natural straw and individually hand-painted, each piece undergoes hours of meticulous craftsmanship before being finished with a protective, weather-resistant seal. Interwoven with subtle numerology and rich equestrian motifs, CÉCIE frames statement headwear for polo matches, sun-drenched coastal gatherings, and elevated daily life. Beyond its core collections, CÉCIE also specializes in bespoke styling sessions and live atelier pop-up experiences. Guests are invited to customize details and adorn their hats with specialized jewelry, creating personalized keepsakes. Shop at cecie.co.

LIFE&STYLE WEARABLE ART Local designer SIGAL transforms South Florida’s vibrant palette into wearable

PHOTOS COURTESY OF SIGAL

Venezuelan-born designer Sigal Cohen Wolkowiez uses watercolor drawings to translate nature’s raw energy into artful, timeless garments that bridge luxury and ease. Using a watercolor technique she calls "blind painting," Wolkowiez creates motifs inspired by the lush foliage of the tropics, South Florida’s iconic Art Deco hues, and coastal living, which transform into the striking signature prints of her namesake resort-wear label, SIGAL. Flowy silk kimonos, breezy kaftans, and matching sets double as canvas and clothing, designed for women who embrace bold, unapologetic self-expression. Wolkowiez prioritizes low-impact, sustainable materials like organic linen, pure silk, and lotus flower fibers. Each pattern is transferred to fabric using non-toxic inks in zero-waste, environmentally responsible facilities, ensuring every print honors the ecosystems that inspired it. From local South Florida boutiques to international runway presentations at PARAISO Miami Swim Week, SIGAL transforms modern resort wear into an immersive narrative. Shop at shopsigal.com.

Named after French pastry, Palmiers are the sweetest sunglasses around

PHOTOS COURTESY OF PALMIERS

For Palmiers Eyewear founders Yoana Obregon and Max Mendez, life’s best moments should be savored through a warmer lens. Named after the caramelized French pastry whose layered curves mirror the brand’s rich aesthetic, Palmiers reframes how sunglasses are worn. Designed for those who never take off their frames (whether indoors, outdoors, day, or night), the label crafts structural, vintage-inspired frames carved from premium Italian Mazzucchelli acetate. What truly defines Palmiers is its signature suite of warm-tinted nylon lenses available in flavor-inspired hues like Saffron, Brûlée, Olive, and Espresso. Beyond serving as a shield against Florida’s intense light, these specialized lenses filter out harsh blue wavelengths, infusing the surroundings with a soft, cinematic glow regardless of the hour. Embraced by South Florida’s stylish crowd and stocked in premier destinations like the Miami Design District and the Miami Beach EDITION, Palmiers blends oldworld European craftsmanship with a relaxed coastal soul. Little Boat, Big Flavor

Barchetta brings a coastal Italian chophouse to the Intracoastal at Omni Fort Lauderdale Barchetta, Italian for “little boat,” is named for the small open vessels that speed along Italy’s coastline, a fitting reference for a chophouse on the Intracoastal Waterway. Here, executive chef David Caceres blends imported Italian ingredients with South Florida touches on a menu of handmade pastas, premium seafood, and prime steaks. At the bar, aperitivo culture takes on a local accent. The Pomodoro Negroni is made with tomato-basil-washed gin, while the Day Drift pairs Prosecco, lemon juice, and St-Germain with a lychee liqueur from Miami’s Tropical Distillery. Spritzes and Italian wines round out the list. Barchetta, 1880 SE 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale; barchettafll.com.

ormer University of North Carolina tennis player Zach Hunter initially dismissed pickleball as “fake tennis.” Today, he plays five days a week and has placed a sizable business bet on the sport’s continued ascent. Hunter is co-founder and owner of software development and venture capital firm Hyperspace Ventures, the lead owner of the Palm Beach Royals. The Major League Pickleball expansion team has assembled an investor roster that includes Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov, U.S. Open tennis champion Bianca Andreescu, and former UNC basketball players Tyler Hansbrough and Marvin Williams. The Royals are also tied to one of South Florida’s most ambitious new racquet sports venues. Hyperspace Ventures invested over $1 million in Boca Paddle, while Boca Paddle investors received an ownership stake in the Royals and the team’s investors gained a stake in the club. Scheduled to open in mid-November, Boca Paddle will become the Royals’ home facility and headquarters. The $20 million, semi-private club will feature 19 pickleball courts, six padel courts, locker rooms, saunas, cold plunges, a pro shop, and a restaurant and bar operated by Farmer’s Table. CityPickle, known for its pickleball operations at New York City’s Wollman Rink and in Times Square, will oversee the club.

Zach Hunter, lead owner of the Palm Beach Royals pickleball team. “I could be a little bit biased, but I truly think it’ll be the nicest pickleball venue in the world,” Hunter says. Technology will carry nearly as much weight as court count. PodPlay cameras and screens will allow players to record matches and save individual points. Players can send footage to PB Vision, an artificial intelligence platform that analyzes skills including serves, returns and movement toward the kitchen. Hyperspace Ventures has invested in PodPlay

as well as Pickleball Inc., whose holdings include Major League Pickleball, Pickleball TV and pickleball.com. Hunter sees Palm Beach County as an ideal market because of its crowded public courts, concentration of elite players and luxury identity. The county has become home to many of the world’s leading professionals, including Anna Leigh Waters, Ben Johns, and Anna Bright. The Royals quickly established their competitive credibility, too. Entering their inaugural campaign as the league’s lone expansion franchise, they were projected to finish between 10th and 12th among 20 teams. They finished seventh and secured a playoff berth with a roster mixing veterans such as Tyson McGuffin and Tina Pisnik with

Boca Raton-based players Casey Diamond and Sofia Sewing. “We just see the growth as

really just the first inning, even though it seems like it’s really exploded,” Hunter said. “We see that there’s a ton of room left to grow.” Boca Paddle will also give the Royals a central base for youth clinics, senior programs, competitive events, veterans activities and monthly sessions with the Boys & Girls Clubs. Baptist Health serves as the team’s title sponsor, while a local television agreement with WPTV expands access to its matches. Hunter is already contemplating a larger Palm Beach County stadium complex capable of seating 5,000 to 10,000 spectators alongside hotels and entertainment. For now, Boca Paddle gives his team a polished home where professional competition, recreational play, dining, wellness and technology can meet under one roof.

hris Lucas and Preston Brust know how to throw a party. As the country music duo LOCASH, they've spent more than two decades entertaining audiences across the country. This December, they're bringing that same energy to Fort Lauderdale as grand marshals of the 55th annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. "It's crazy," says Brust, about being named grand marshal. "It was an instant yes for us. And it's in Florida in the middle of December. That's another big yes. Throw some lights on a boat and call us the grand marshals. Let's go." The duo will lead the festive flotilla on Saturday, December 12, as the annual Fort Lauderdale holiday tradition celebrates its 55th year. This year's theme, "Party in the U.S.A.," commemorates America's 250th anniversary and is expected to attract more than one million viewers. Beginning on the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the illuminated procession travels along the Intracoastal Waterway before heading north toward Pompano Beach, covering approximately 12 miles. For Lucas and Brust, who have spent more than two decades making music together, the parade comes during an especially busy season filled with touring, new music, and plenty of holiday cheer. And Christmas, it turns out, is something both men take very seriously. For Lucas and Brust, Christmas is all about family. Lucas celebrates with his wife, Kaitlyn, and their three children: Caden, 16, Remi, 10, and Violet, 9. Brust shares the holidays with his wife, Kristen, and their children: Love, 10, Legend, 8, and Lion, 3. For both families, the season brings Christmas trees, matching pajamas, and plenty of holiday movies. For Lucas, one of his favorite traditions is settling in with the family to catch up on the classics. "The week of Christmas, we'll put on pajamas, and we'll just watch every Christmas movie over and over again." His family's most-watched film is Elf, although Lucas also has a particular fondness for the shenanigans of Clark W. Griswold and family. "I really love Christmas Vacation," he says, recalling how hard he laughed watching the movie as a child. The holiday movie discussion quickly becomes a spirited exchange involving Home Alone, The Christmas Chronicles, and the perennial question of whether Die Hard qualifies as a Christmas movie. Brust is happy to include Die Hard among the holiday classics, and the movie has even found its way into LOCASH's newest Christmas music. One of the duo's original songs references three films: Elf, Home Alone, and Die Hard. "It might be the first time Die Hard is mentioned in a Christmas song," Brust jokes. Their Christmas enthusiasm extends well beyond movie

night. Brust says his family's tree goes up November 1, and he's already looking forward to the moment when touring ends, and he can settle in for the holidays. "We're really hard workers. We're bluecollar tour guys," he says. "We stay on the road. That's how we make our money." But after their final December performance, the pace changes considerably. "It's gonna be nice to take that deep breath, light the fireplace, put on matching PJs with the family, and not come out of them for a few weeks." This season, LOCASH is adding its own music to the Christmas soundtrack with My Kinda Christmas, a five-song holiday EP arriving in November. The collection features three original songs written by Lucas and Brust — "My Kinda Christmas," "Over the River," and "Snow Angel" — along with their interpretations of two holiday classics, "O, Holy Night" and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town." For Lucas, who describes himself as a Christmas fanatic, recording original holiday music presented an unexpected challenge. "I'm a traditional Christmas guy, so I don't like original Christmas songs," he admits. Yet the three new compositions managed to win him over. "I love these songs. They sound traditional to me," he says. Brust sees the project as something that could become part of their families' celebrations for years to come -- and may possibly turn into a new holiday classic. "When you think about generations down the road, our kids are going to hear Christmas songs that we perform and that we wrote and we put our whole heart and soul into," he says.

The duo's hands-on approach to the holiday EP reflects how seriously they take their music, even when the subject matter is lighthearted. Brust explains that making music doesn't necessarily end when a song is written or recorded. While mixing the Christmas project, he found himself continuing to make adjustments to arrangements, instruments, and individual sections. "I think the creative process goes all the way until it's mastered," he says. That attention to detail is also evident in their latest album, Chris & Preston, named for the two men behind LOCASH. Released October 23, the project is their sixth studio album.

Chris & Preston offers listeners a more personal introduction to Lucas and Brust, whose music has long been associated with upbeat melodies, feel-good messages, and songs that invite audiences to sing along. The album revisits the friendship, shared history, and real-life experiences that have shaped their music through the years. It features the new track "Where My Stars Line Up" and their current single, "Talkin Bout." The duo selected the material they felt best represented them at this point in their careers. Songs such as "Love Always Wins" and "Music Row" reveal a more personal side of the performers. For Brust, the goal has always been to create music that connects with listeners,

regardless of whether they consider themselves country music fans. "We have a lot of people come to us and say, 'I'm not a country fan, but man, I'm a LOCASH fan,'" he says. He points to songs such as "I Love This Life" and "I Know Somebody" as examples of music that resonates because of its relatable themes and positive messages. The duo's songwriting philosophy is equally straightforward: Write the best song possible, then determine where it belongs. Over the years, Lucas and Brust have written material for other country performers, including some of the industry's biggest names. But when they create something particularly suited to LOCASH,

LMGFL.COM NOVEMBER 2026 47

they generally set it aside for themselves first. That doesn't always mean they'll be the ones to record it. "When Luke [Bryan] calls and says, 'Hey, man, what are you guys doing with this song? I want to put it on my album,' well, it's Luke, so we're gonna give it to him," Lucas says. Brust adds that the process keeps them challenging themselves creatively. "If this is a song we want to record, can we outwrite it? Can we write a better song in the meantime before we go to the studio?" Their songwriting ideas often begin with a title or phrase entered into a phone, sometimes waiting months or longer before becoming a finished composition. The duo has also taken greater control of its career through their own Galaxy Label Group, a move that Lucas says allows them to make their own decisions and accept responsibility for the results. "No one cares about your career more than you," he says. After years of working with major labels, Lucas believes having more control gives the duo a better opportunity to succeed on its own terms. "If it's in our hands and it fails, we didn't win that one. It's okay. Come back and try and win another one." They're also interested in helping other artists develop careers, sharing lessons learned from their own experiences in the music business.

48

NOVEMBER 2026 | LMGFL.COM

For two musicians who have spent decades writing, recording, and performing together, the work continues. But their enthusiasm for the holidays provides a welcome counterbalance to the demands of life on the road. Although neither musician has participated in Winterfest before, Brust already has a connection to Fort Lauderdale's waterways. During the pandemic, he and his family spent several months in the area with friends who owned a boat. They frequently traveled along the Intracoastal Waterway, and he's looking forward to returning to the water, this time aboard one of the most celebrated boats in the parade. The duo hopes their families will be able to join them, although those arrangements have yet to be finalized. Their wardrobe is equally undecided. Brust wonders whether the occasion calls for beachwear, ugly Christmas sweaters, or matching pajamas for the entire family. Lucas, meanwhile, has something up his sleeve. "I have an idea, and I'll send it to you, Preston, but it's gonna be a surprise for everybody at the parade." Brust immediately offers his own interpretation. "Chris wants us to wear antlers and be reindeer." Whatever they choose, music will be part of the celebration. LOCASH expects to have its songs playing aboard the Grand Marshal boat and is also planning a live performance at the annual Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Black Tie Ball. Their original holiday song, "My Kinda Christmas," seems especially appropriate for the occasion. And while their December calendar includes touring, radio appearances, and charitable work supporting organizations such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Winterfest offers something different: a chance to enjoy the holidays with the fans gathered along Fort Lauderdale's waterfront. For Lucas and Brust, whose careers have been built around bringing people together through music, that sounds like a fitting way to celebrate the season. There may be Christmas pajamas. There may be reindeer antlers. There will certainly be a lot of smiles and plenty of music. And if a certain Bruce Willis action movie is part of the festivities, don't be surprised. Yippee Kai-Yay, Winterfest!

Paul Castronovo 50

NOVEMBER 2026 | LMGFL.COM

he phrase “local legend” gets kicked around a lot, but what else do you call Paul Castronovo? For decades, South Florida has woken up to Castronovo’s own brand of music and mayhem on numerous stations including WSHE, WZTA. For the past 20 years, The Paul Castronovo Show has been weekday wake up call on Big 105.9. The reason for Castronovo’s success is his love for all things South Florida. Sure, the show features big name celebrity interviews and prize giveaways, but what really resonates with all of us for so many years is Castronovo’s stories about his visits to local restaurants, favorite fishing spots, and adventures both at home and abroad with his friends, wife Gina, and sons. We asked Castronovo to share his favorite spots with Lifestyle. From the best live music venue to delicious lunch spots, here’s where to find everyone’s favorite radio personality. Favorite spot for morning coffee To be honest, my favorite spot for coffee is my Jura machine that I spent more than a car payment on! It grinds the beans, makes espresso, cappuccino, and more. The only thing it doesn’t do is gently wake me up in the morning. Monday through Friday, I’m running out the door to go to work, so when I get a weekend at home, I’m on my deck, with my dog, drinking my coffee and waiting for my wife, Gina to wake up! Go-to brunch or lunch spot I don’t do brunch as much as I used to when I was heavy; however, we have a group of guys who meet for lunch a few times a week. Can I give you two?

One is Beauregard's Fine Meats and Butchery in Boca Raton. It’s a butcher shop that does insane sandwiches, and my go-to is their pastrami on rye. My other spot is Cosa Duci, a little Sicilian deli, bakery, and market, also in Boca Raton. You know it’s the real deal – old Italian men sit there drinking coffee and watching soccer all day. I always order the peppers and eggs on ciabatta because it reminds me of what mom used to make. PS, I live in Boca. Favorite workout spot or routine I’m in the gym five to six days a week, and proximity to my house is crucial. I love Lift 365 Fitness. It’s a great gym, nobody bothers me, and if I go at 2:30-3 pm it’s empty (sort of). I lift for endurance, not strength as much anymore. Favorite spot to escape the crowds or get back to nature I’m a fisherman; if I get a chance to get on my boat with my son and my friends, and get offshore, that’s my happy place. I had a house for 20 years in Maine as well, and being on the water up there, with whales and eagles is very special. I also love crossing the Gulfstream and heading to Bimini in the Bahamas. When you lose sight of land, the stress melts away. Papas Pilar rum doesn’t hurt either… Favorite shopping experience Ever? It has to be Milan, Italy. My wife Gina and I spent a couple of nights in Milan a couple of years ago after I lost my weight (over 100lbs), and let me tell you, what a pleasure it was watching my wife pick out clothes from the Armani store…which was INSIDE our hotel! Best bar, lounge, or rooftop for

cocktails and sunset I love watching the sunset at Elevate, the bar on the roof of the Opal Grand Hotel in Delray Beach. After the sun sets, I walk down a flight of stairs to Drift. It’s a Mediterranean seafood restaurant where I can get whipped feta, hummus, and a nice piece of salmon along with a crazy good wine list. Awesome spot and great for a staycation as well. Ultimate South Florida dinner spot and must-order dish There’s only one place for me, and it’s Runway 84. My problem is, by the time I get done with the hot and cold antipasto, and the bread and the olive oil, I’m full! But somehow I end up ordering even more. I love the chicken scarpariello, the spicy rigatoni vodka, and the yellowtail, Runway style. Favorite place for live music, a nightcap, or a DJ As a rock music guy, I have to tell you, the Pompano Beach Amphitheater is the easiest venue to get in and out of. Don’t get

me wrong, the Hard Rock Live is ridiculous and fantastic, and if you pair a concert with dinner at Abiaka Wood Fire Grill, forget about it. But for an easy, fun night out, close to my house? Gimme Pompano. Go-to South Florida weekend Ok. Let’s start with Thursday nights. Happy hour at my place for cigars and wine with my neighbors. Then we hit one of the 2,000 restaurants in East Boca for an early dinner. Lately, we like the happy hour at 388. Friday night, we might pop into Patsy’s and sit at the bar. It’s a Harlem spot that recently opened in downtown Boca that has phenomenal pizza. Saturday morning: I’m fishing. If we catch something, I’m cooking in my outdoor kitchen as I wait for my beloved Florida Gators to come on TV – unless I’m going to the game. Sunday: Boca Bagel Bar to pick up breakfast, and then we’re heading to Hard Rock Stadium to watch the Dolphins (maybe) win! Whew! I’m exhausted! LMGFL.COM NOVEMBER 2026 51

Habitat for Humanity Celebrates 40 Years In Palm Beach County

THE NONPROFIT MARKS FOUR DECADES OF BUILDING AFFORDABLE HOUSES, HELPING VETERANS REMAIN SAFELY IN THEIR HOMES, AND STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES. BY

L A I N E

D O S S

or four decades, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County has been building more than houses. Since its founding in 1986, the nonprofit has helped families achieve homeownership, assisted longtime residents with critical home repairs, and strengthened neighborhoods throughout Palm Beach County. As the organization celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, its impact extends well beyond new construction. Habitat has built 452 affordable homes, repaired or revitalized 829 properties, and partnered with more than 1,280 families and households. A Habitat home is also not merely given to anyone -- it is earned. Habitat homeowners contribute at least 300 hours toward their homes through construction, volunteering, financial literacy courses, and homeownership workshops. They then purchase their properties through 30-year, interest-free mortgages with payments based on 30% of their income. "We're not just giving them the home and stepping away," Cassino explains. "We're a partner to them for that whole 30-year mortgage, even beyond." But while Habitat is best known for helping families become homeowners, another important part of its mission is helping people remain safely in the homes they already own, particularly veterans and seniors living on limited incomes. Samantha Cassino, director of marketing and communications for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County, explains

that the organization's home repair program addresses everything from cosmetic improvements, including painting, landscaping, and fencing, to critical repairs such as roof replacements, impact windows, and electrical upgrades. Accessibility improvements, including ramps and bathroom grab bars, also help older residents remain independent. Through its Veterans Build initiative, Habitat assists former service members who already own homes but may struggle to afford necessary repairs. During last year's Veterans Build, volunteers completed projects at six properties across Palm Beach County. In addition to exterior improvements, Habitat coordinated more substantial repairs, including roof and window replacements and electrical upgrades. The program addresses a problem homeowners know all too well: LMGFL.COM NOVEMBER 2026 53

A seemingly manageable repair can quickly become an expensive emergency. For veterans living on fixed incomes, those expenses can threaten their ability to live on their own. "Those people deserve to stay safely in their homes," Cassino says. On November 6, Habitat will bring volunteers together for its ninth annual Veterans Build, partnering with the city of Boynton Beach on projects at multiple locations. The day begins with home repairs and concludes with an American Dream BBQ, bringing together volunteers, veterans, and community supporters. Funds raised through the event support the veterans program throughout the year. As the holiday season approaches, Cassino hopes more people will discover the many ways they can support Habitat's work. Financial contributions are always welcome, but volunteering is equally valuable. Opportunities include construction and repair projects, administrative assistance, and helping organize community events. Habitat's ReStores offer another way to help. The thrift stores accept donated furniture, household goods, and other items, with

54

NOVEMBER 2026 | LMGFL.COM

sales helping cover operating expenses to support the organization's housing programs. Shoppers contribute to the organization simply by making purchases. And for those seeking a particularly festive connection to Habitat, there's a tradition involving one of America's most famous Christmas trees. After the holidays, wood from New York's iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is donated for use in Habitat homes, giving the seasonal landmark a second life. Cassino says volunteers sometimes write messages of hope and encouragement on the wooden framing of homes before the walls are completed, leaving personal wishes for the families who will live there. It's a fitting reflection of Habitat's mission, whether the work involves building a house, repairing a veteran's roof, or helping a longtime homeowner remain in place. After four decades in Palm Beach County, the organization's goal remains the same: helping people build and maintain a place to call home.

SHERYL BLEUSTEIN PRESIDENT/OWNER

INTERIORS BY SBI ASID Associate #1937101 333 Las Olas Way, Suite 2409, Fort Lauderdale (954) 445-0897 InteriorsBySBI.com What was or is your most impressive project or design? One of my most exciting recent projects was the transformation of a residence in Riviera Isles (500 Flamingo Drive). This home gave me the opportunity to take an existing space and completely reimagine it for the way my clients live today. I love projects where the before-and-after is dramatic and you can see how thoughtful design can change not only the appearance of a home, but also how it feels and functions. From the overall vision to the smallest details, the goal was to create a sophisticated, cohesive residence that felt fresh and elevated while remaining personal to the homeowners. After 30 years in design, transformations like this are still incredibly rewarding. What are three things that distinguish you from your competition? Experience, creativity, and personalized service. I founded Interiors by SBI in 1996 and have designed luxury residences, condominiums, yachts, and private jets for clients throughout the U.S. and internationally. I am very hands-on and approach every project with enthusiasm and originality. I don’t believe in giving every client the same look. A home should reflect the client’s personality, lifestyle, and how they want to live. Are there lessons from your youth or school/college years that continue to drive the choices/decisions you make as a professional? I’ve learned to listen, work hard, and trust my instincts. Great design begins with understanding people. My approach has always been to create timeless designs that feel personal and beautiful, rather than spaces driven solely by trends. Trends will always change, but listening to your clients, paying attention to the details, and creating something they genuinely love will never go out of style.

CLAUDIA EMANUELE LUXURY REALTOR

1200 East Las Olas Blvd., Suite 201, Fort Lauderdale 954.816.8688 | claudia.emanuele@compass.com The Broward Luxury Divide: Sharing What My Clients Love Most. For those of you who live here, the answers are easy. But this is how I would break it down for a new buyer relocating here: If someone were seeking a high-octane, waterfront lifestyle where there is always something new to do, where should they look? Fort Lauderdale. I love it for the high energy and the all-day blend of vacation-feeling luxury with a world-class maritime lifestyle. There is nothing like seeing a 100-foot yacht parked behind an Intracoastal estate. My clients choose Fort Lauderdale for immediate deep-water access, the walkable luxury of Las Olas, and the ability to pivot from a morning exercise to a board meeting to an evening cruise in the boating capital of the world. Which community offers resort vibes and family lifestyle? The polished sanctuaries of Weston and Parkland. I love them for their absolute precision, safety, and community focus. Driving through all the enclaves, you immediately feel a sense of elite, resort-style peace. My clients buy there for the strict guard-gated security, immaculate manicured streets, and top-tier schools, trading urban hustle for a pristine, turnkey environment. Where can I find true privacy and acreage without losing the city? The private compounds of Davie and Sunshine Ranches provide raw freedom and unpretentious luxury. These neighborhoods offer a rare canvas of multi-acre land where you can build a massive custom estate, often without checking with an HOA. My clients buy in Davie because they can build a hyper-customized compound, with 10-car garages or equestrian facilities, while remaining a practical 15 minutes from the airport. Why South Florida? Watching this region evolve into a global powerhouse, we welcome you into a sunny, tax-friendly lifestyle where your families and investments are secure. LMGFL.COM NOVEMBER 2026 61

CORALIE HALFON OWNER

PREMIUM KITCHENS 3520 North Federal Highway Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33308 954-909-5317 | coralie@premiumkitchens.com premiumkitchens.com What was or is your most impressive project or design? A waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale where we redesigned the entire interior, from the kitchen to the closets. The concept was simple: shared spaces stay quiet, while private rooms carry more personality. The kitchen became the anchor: open, welcoming, and designed for gathering, featuring a sculptural bar, refined cabinetry, and seamless transitions into the living and dining spaces. The result feels cohesive without being predictable, with the kitchen truly at the heart of the home. Are there lessons from your youth that continue to influence your work? I was raised in Paris and shaped by the South of France, and both influence everything I design. Paris taught me restraint and the discipline of removing until only what matters remains. The Mediterranean taught me light, color, and the confidence to introduce something unexpected. When those elements are balanced with intention, they create l’harmonie. What distinguishes you from your competition? A European eye applied to a Florida home. I design with a sense of restraint, even when the palette is bold. We also work directly with European cabinetry lines, so what I design is what ultimately arrives. Most importantly, we consider the entire interior, so every room feels connected. What trends are dominating South Florida? Color. After Milan Design Week, my biggest takeaway was that nearly every space had one confident gesture: lacquered cabinetry, green marble, or a tomato-red chair. After years of white-on-white interiors, South Florida is embracing color again, and our natural light makes it especially powerful.

ESTEFANIA SCHUMAN KLAS LUXURY DESIGN

954-940-0499 Klasluxurydesign.com Estefania@klasluxurydesign.com @klasluxurydesign

What are three things that distinguish you from your competition? First, I design from emotion. I listen to how my clients want to live and, most importantly, how they want to feel in their space. Second, I have a strong focus on proportion and scale—everything needs to feel balanced within the architecture. Third, I believe lighting and color can completely transform an interior. I love using layered lighting and color drenching to create spaces that feel sophisticated, cohesive, and intentional. What influenced you to get into the interior design profession? Design has been part of me from a very young age. I was always moving furniture, changing my surroundings, and giving family members advice about their homes. By around 17, I was already constantly learning about interiors. I understood early that our environment affects our emotions and how we experience everyday life. That natural instinct became my passion and eventually my profession. What was or is your most impressive project or design? Every project becomes personal to me, but I’m especially proud of the upcoming renovation of Las Olas Beach Club. After building much of my career in luxury residential design, this project gives me the opportunity to bring my design philosophy into a larger commercial environment. It represents an exciting evolution for Klas Luxury Design while allowing me to maintain the warmth, sophistication, and attention to detail that defines my work. LMGFL.COM NOVEMBER 2026 63

CELEBRATING AMERICA THROUGH THE ART OF CHARLES FAZZINO For the 55th Anniversary of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade, we are proud to welcome back internationally renowned artist Charles Fazzino as this year’s official poster artist. Known as the master of 3-D Pop Art, Fazzino has spent more than four decades creating vibrant, highly detailed works that transform cities, landmarks, sports, entertainment and cultural moments into energetic, multidimensional celebrations. Born in the Bronx and a graduate of New York’s School of Visual Arts, Fazzino developed his signature hand-assembled, layered technique into an instantly recognizable style filled with color, movement and intricate detail. His work is exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.

Fazzino is no stranger to iconic celebrations. His portfolio includes artwork for the Super Bowl, Major League Baseball All-Star Games, the Olympics, GRAMMY Awards, FIFA World Cup tournaments, and numerous other nationally recognized events. His connection to Winterfest is especially meaningful, having previously created official artwork for Winterfest. This year, Fazzino’s unmistakable artistic language takes on an especially patriotic spirit. Created for America250 and Winterfest’s “Party in the USA” theme, the artwork celebrates the energy, optimism, diversity and larger-than-life personality of America. Fazzino’s explosive colors, layered imagery and sense of movement perfectly capture the excitement of a nation coming together to celebrate 250 years of American history—while looking toward its future. Just as the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade transforms the waterways into a moving celebration of light, music and holiday spirit, Fazzino transforms the American story into a spectacular visual experience. His artwork invites us to celebrate America in the Fazzino way—with color, creativity, energy and a whole lot of fun.

Final An Elephant, A Tiger, and Hope BY

L A I N E

D O S S

When Jared Ross March was diagnosed with cancer at 26, he made a decision that would change his very life trajectory. Instead of allowing the disease to dictate his life, he chose to embrace every moment in the now, while helping others facing similar circumstances. Jared established the Team Jmared Foundation, designed to assist patients and families confronting the financial challenges of a cancer diagnosis. The foundation has raised more than $1.3 million for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), helping patients cover nonmedical expenses, including transportation, housing, childcare, utilities, and other essential costs. In addition to the foundation, Jared married his true love, Brittany Greene March, traveled with family and friends, and journeyed to South Africa to produce MTV's The Challenge, one of his favorite television shows. His tenacious outlook inspired two characters that became central to the foundation's identity. The elephant represented strength, loyalty, and luck, reflecting the family and friends Jared considered his herd. As his illness progressed, he introduced the tiger, symbolizing confidence, curiosity, and immortality. Rather than living from one medical scan to the next, Jared chose to focus on the present. Both characters appeared in clothing collections Jared designed to raise funds and share his message. Those merchandise releases remain part of the foundation's fundraising efforts. According to Jared's brother, Josh March, Jared frequently described himself as "very lucky in an unlucky situation." His family's resources allowed him to live near MSK in New York, receive treatment, and continue pursuing the experiences he loved. His wife, Brittany, recalls how Jared recognized those advantages during treatment. "I think it became very apparent as he was going to MSK every day," she says, remembering how family members could drop everything to support him. That realization inspired the foundation's mission to help patients who lacked that same financial resources and family support. Jared sadly passed away on January 27, 2024 at 28 years old after a two and a half year battle with cancer, but his legacy continues. Today, Josh, Brittany, and other family members continue his work through merchandise sales, donations, and fundraising events. The foundation partners exclusively with MSK, where social workers assess patients' financial needs and distribute assistance through an established program to make an extraordinarily difficult experience a bit easier for the families facing a cancer diagnosis. Although Jared's life was cut short, his commitment to living fully and helping others continues through the foundation that bears his name. For information or to donate, visit teamjmared. com.
