Free Computer Classes in the Computer Lab in the Active Adults 55 and Better area of The REC. (Unless specified, all classes must have a minimum of 5 students.)

Learning Basic Skills for Word (An abbreviated version of Windows Fundamentals)
Length: Three sessions
Max: 12 Students

Pre-Req: To attend this class, ALL students must have access to their OWN computers and have Microsoft Word installed on their computer Students should have competent keyboarding skills to get the most out of this class. If you need to improve your own typing skills, search ONLINE for Keyboarding Tutorials to ensure your success in this class
Description: Is the computer a mysterious puzzle to you? Do you wish you were able to be comfortable using a computer? That is our main goal in this introductory class; you are given several opportunities to practice basic word processing skills to become more confident.
Using Windows 10 in the Computer Lab, you will discover the standard terminology and features as you use your home computer! Have you wondered by what is meant by the “Ribbon” and its Tabs, Groups, and Commands? You will be able to experiment with basic keyboarding skills by creating your own letters, recipes, lists, and files. Are you always “losing” your work once you have saved it? Let’s solve that mystery together by learning how to organize your work in folders on your computer! There are many computer-based tasks so you will have lots of fun while you are getting comfortable with your computer
NOTE: If you have never taken any kind of basic typing / keyboard class and want to develop or improve your own Keyboard Typing Skills before you begin this class, consider searching the Internet for one of the FREE Keyboard Tutorials (self-teaching experiences). Take this time before class
begins to enrich your typing skills and build your personal confidence in using the computer keyboard!
AI for Beginners
Length: Two sessions

Description: Curious about all the buzz around Artificial Intelligence (AI) but not sure where to start? This fun, no-pressure class is designed especially for the 55+ crowd who want to explore what AI can really do (and what it cannot do!). We’ll demystify the jargon, play with popular AI tools, and show you how this fascinating technology can make everyday life easier, more creative, and even entertaining. No tech experience required just bring your curiosity as we discover the friendly side of the world of robots!
AI Discussion Group
Length: Two sessions

Description: Are you ready to take your Artificial Intelligence (AI) adventures to the next level? This active adult group is for those that have already dipped their toes into the world of Artificial Intelligence and want to keep learning together. You can attend one or both sessions. Each session is a friendly, open exchange where members share tips, discoveries, and “aha!” moments from their own AI explorations because everyone is both a student and a teacher here! Guided by a discussion leader, we’ll swap stories, solve puzzles, and have a few laughs as we explore how AI can surprise, delight, and maybe even outsmart … just a little.
Android
Phone: Masterclass

Pre-Req: Must have an Android phone, preferably a Samsung. Bring your Phone to class fully charged Must have a Google/Gmail address and bring your password to class.
Description: This training is limited to 6 participants. In this class, learn how to change settings on your phone We will make sure your phone is set up to sync [backup], contacts, photos, and apps. We cover using Google
Calendar, setting up contacts, email, and photos. We will use Google Chrome on a computer to see what is on your phone
Apple Watch Bootcamp
Length: One session
Max: 12 Students.

Pre-Req: You must bring a fully charged iPhone and Apple Watch to class.
Description: The “wrist revolution” starts NOW. In just ONE high-energy session, we’ll unlock secret gestures and apps that will make your friends jealous, master notifications, and teach you how to find your iPhone with your Watch! No nonsense. Google Photos

Pre-Req: Please bring a fully charged phone or tablet to class, with Google Photos loaded. Google Photos is native on Android and an extra app on iPhones. Also, bring your Google/Gmail login and password. Learn how to use the photo editing tools built into Google Photos. That includes cropping, using filters, adding graphics, and sharing the results by viewing and downloading to a computer.
iPad Skills
