Welcome to the Spring 2023 Go

Grapevine Magazine! We are looking forward to a season of new possibilities, opportunities, and experiences for you and your family through the programs, classes, and events that Grapevine Parks & Recreation has to offer. We are always looking for new, innovative, and exciting ways to best meet the needs of our community and we thank you for your continued support of this Department and the team members that help turn amazing ideas into reality.

As I write about the concept of turning ideas into reality, I can’t help but reminisce about the recent opening of Jones Branch Park and how instrumental the feedback and support of the community was in bringing that vision to fruition. Nestled on the corner of Panhandle Drive and Dove Road, the property was the location of Grapevine’s Fire Station No. 2 for 40 years before moving to their new facility. As a place known for serving the community, it was only fitting for the property to continue to serve the neighbors in a way that would last for another 40 years. Thanks to your input and feedback, we were

able to make this happen. Of course, I must extend my utmost gratitude to the city staff who worked so diligently to make Jones Branch Park a reality. I am extremely proud of the work they did to build a beautiful park for families to create lasting memories.

On another note, summer camp registration is open now, so be sure to check out the robust selection of camps in our Summer Camp Directory located in the middle of this magazine issue. Kids can choose from our outdoor lake-based camps such as Dove Creek Day Camp, STEM camps, fine arts camps, excursion camps and a whole lot more. Please visit GoGrapevine. com/Camps for more details and to sign up. You can also keep up with the latest programs and events by following us on social media.

We hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and are kicking off the New Year with optimism, good health, and some new hobbies that you can enjoy with everything that Grapevine Parks & Recreation has to offer.
