From Community Impact News: As deputy project director for NorthGate Constructors, Rob
Anderson has overseen the Connector from its beginning in 2010. He is one of the two top directors of the project, and the one who has served as liaison with the City of Grapevine. A Keller resident, he has 23 years of experience with Kiewit Construction, one of the companies that forms NorthGate. The Connector is not his biggest job to-date. Anderson also worked on the reconstruction of Interstate-15 in Salt Lake City for the Olympics, a project that would cost around $3 billion in today’s dollars and involved 144 bridges, compared to $985 million and
39 for the Connector. The work here should be substantially complete this summer - a year ahead of schedule. Make plans to join us for the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St. in Grapevine. The cost is $20 with reservations made prior to 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, and $25 after. There is a $5 fee for invoicing. Guiding the Direction of Your Chamber It’s hard to believe, but it is already March. Spring is on the horizon, and the first quarter is nearly complete. This month I want to give you an idea of the Program of Work that the Grapevine Chamber Board of Directors uses to guide the direction of the Chamber. If your business is like mine, we always are working toward the goals and objectives that we put in place at the end of each year, and the same can be
said for your chamber. Several years ago, the Grapevine Chamber Board began a process of developing a strategic plan in an effort to focus the objectives of the Chamber to the mission of “promoting business that adds value to our community.” The Board developed the Program of Work around three primary areas: Leadership, Business Partnerships and Stewardship & Prosperity. These are the major focus of the Board’s time and energy and work as a guide as plans are developed and executed. A major focus of your

Leadership team is working on the Accreditation of the Chamber. The major part of this work was done in 2012, and the application is currently under evaluation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. We should hear the outcomes of this work this summer. Another key item for 2013 will be developing a legislative agenda where the voice of the Chamber can be heard by our elected leaders. Vineyards Campground & Cabins Recognized for Excellence Congratulations to the Vineyards Campground & Cabins for being honored by the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC). The Vineyards Campground was named Small Park of the Year. This award was given based on customer service, employee training, operational excellence, national directory ratings and community service. Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division
A fun and fabulous time was had by all at the Annual Women’s Division Membership Social recently. We met in the beautiful Grand Hall in the CVB building and several Women’s Division members graciously decorated a luncheon table in their own personal style. I’ve got to say…we are one stylish group! Tables showcased the various personalities with themes ranging from Mardi Gras, to contemporary spring, to classically elegant, to exotic animal print, to festive Fiestaware. Our program was presented by four outstanding and longstanding members of Women’s Division - Sue Franks, Clydene Johnson, Janice Kane and Duff O’Dell. They led us on a fun trip through the history of the Women’s Division fulfilling our event objective of educating potential members about what we are, what we do and why we do it. There were many fun stories of successful projects as well as mention of some projects, such as the Trash and Treasure Hunt that are better left to the past! It was wonderful to learn more of the history of Women’s Division and see the evolution of the organization from our roots starting in 1965 to today. You will not want to miss our upcoming event, Great Taste of Grapevine. It is sure to be a fun-filled evening. New this year is a Grand Raffle of a One Night Stay in the Presidential Suite at the Embassy Suites and a $150 gift card to Silver Fox. Grand Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. You do not have to be present to win. And coming soon…info about our Great Chefs in Action. Great Taste will be held on Thursday, April 11th in the atrium at the Embassy Suites Outdoor World from 5:30 – 8:30. Advance
