These last 12 months, God has repeatedly used these verses to encourage Andy and me. Isaiah 54:10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be moved, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

IN REMEMBRANCE Andy was born in Croydon, South of London to Ron and Olive Perrett, middle child between Martin and Neil. At age 7, Andy gave his life to Jesus at a local children’s outreach, led by Clayton Dougan! The teaching he received at home and at Montpelier Church consolidated his decision to follow Jesus. In his teen years, while attending the youth group led by Barrie Prebble, Andy made lasting friendships. His home church also entrusted him with preaching opportunities, under the wise mentorship of Dr. Laird. During his time at Wallington County Grammar School for Boys, Andy met Gerald Bean, a classmate, who introduced him to bird watching… it became a serious hobby, as you all know! While studying law at Oxford and leading the Oxford Inter Collegiate Christian Union, Andy met Don Lewis. This was to become a life-long friendship. Andy’s choice of Regent is directly attributable to Don! Opportunities to speak on trips organized by Oak Hall Holidays (thank you, Ian Mayo) honed Andy’s speaking and shaped his heart to see more of God’s Holy Spirit at work! Andy spent a year in Provence, France, helping build a 3-story home for Jose Turillo, a faith-filled man. There he found himself folded into the fabric of a wonderful family, with Georgette and their amazing children. Police work (3.5 years) shaped Andy by giving him real life exposure. Eager for more theological training, he came to Regent College in Vancouver. Here, he volunteered with Ian Elliott and the ISM ministry, befriending many international students. Finishing his MCS, having met Marlene (training to be a linguist with SIL, in Texas), he moved to Dallas, to explore linguistics. Clearly, student ministry won over… Andy and Marlene (now married) moved to Montreal in 1990, to work with International Students, under the wise leadership of Ruth Lewis.
After living there for 5 years, Andy was invited to come out west with IVCF. Neil Graham and Jim Berney were formidable influences in shaping his servant leadership, which he naturally put into practice here at Granville Chapel, starting in April 2006. Andy’s time at Granville was rich and fulfilling - encouraging Alpha sessions, sponsoring newcomer families, rallying people in prayer, supporting new initiatives (Joe and Heidi in Fresno, CA) and teaching God’s Word. His heart was for a Spirit-led outward-looking church (Vision Ministries and Jay Gurnett being so supportive) and Andy resonated deeply with the vision of the Tampa Underground. Andy loved his children, Daniel & Lisa: coaching their soccer teams, encouraging their faith, running or skiing with them. He simply adored his two grandsons! August 2021 to August 2022 was a challenging year, with the sudden discovery of an inoperable tumor on Andy’s thalamus and subsequent treatment. He continued to trust Jesus in each new challenge, accepting help with grace and gratitude. We know with certainty that he is now fully healed, enjoying the presence of Jesus whom he loved and served.
