Tim Hortons Goderich raises over $20,000 for Magnetic Moments Campaign during Smile Cookie Week

Focusing on compassion, resilience, mental health awareness and community support, the Mayor’s Luncheon was held at Knights of Columbus Hall in Goderich on May 21. Leading a moderated panel discussion, Mayor Trevor Bazinet highlighted the importance of leadership, collaboration and inclusion to help build a healthier, more connected community. “[The] Mayor’s Luncheon was a wonderful opportunity to bring people together for an important conversation,” wrote Mayor Trevor Bazinet in a statement made on social media. “The [panel] discussion highlighted the importance of partnerships and regional collaboration in supporting the well-being of residents across Huron, Bruce and Grey counties.” Joined by Cait McKinnon, Shannon McGavin, Gwen Devereaux and Natalie Steenstra, Mayor Bazinet brought together leaders from across business and non-profit organizations for an afternoon of connection, community pride, and meaningful conversation. It was back in 1996 when the first-ever Smile Cookie campaign took place to raise funds in support of Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, the annual campaign has raised a total of more than $150 million for charities and community groups selected each year by Tim Hortons restaurant owners. Recipients include local hospitals, community care organisations, food banks and schools. This year, Tim Hortons at Huron Road in Goderich, co-owner Alison Jeffries presented a cheque to Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (AMGH) Foundation board for

$20,370 following Smile Cookie Week. “As local business owners, we are extremely pleased when our community comes together for such a great cause,” admitted Alison Jeffries. Throughout the week, 10,129 cookies were sold between the two Tim Hortons locations in Goderich, with funds raised supporting the Magnetic Moments campaign to bring an MRI machine to AMGH, serving the people of Goderich and Huron County. These fundraising efforts involved 54 volunteers coming together with the Tim Hortons’ team members to decorate cookies, bringing smiles to businesses, schools and individuals across town.
