this regard from Herron Todd White We can provide insurance estimate reports either as part of or separately from our valuation services The rural property market in our area, as mentioned in my previous article, continues to show signs of peaking In some regions and property sectors we are seeing increasing supply shift the market further from a sellers market towards a buyers market Though indications of value decline in our region remain limited As pressured sales are generally meeting market price expectations and resulting in a transaction Certainly the flow of properties setting new regional records has slowed and generally such records are not being broken, unless there has been very limited supply in that location and price point

Buyers are weighing up their options and looking for value based on past sales and other current listings, the fear of missing out from previous years has waned Herron Todd White also provides pre pur

curves have heightened with talk among economists of interest rates remaining higher for longer than previously thought Some commentators are now talking the first interest cut to be in July 2025, instead of May, with a cumulative reduction over the 12 months revised down from 0 50% to 0 40% It will take a bit more time for more accurate forecasts to be delivered though

There is no doubt that Trump has a focus on American growth and attracting offshore investment Lower company taxes at 15%, protection from imports through tariffs and lower energy prices would be highly attractive to international businesses looking for a competitive advantage that don’t want to set up in China The election result has given Trump a lot of power Not only did he win the White House, but he also has the majority in the House of Representatives and Senate, which can ease his path to make the changes he wants

How this impacts Australia will be dependent on strong leadership from Anthony Albanese and Kevin Rudd There have been comments from them that may make this task more challenging Yes, we are a strong ally of the US that has 100 + year relationship, but Trump loves nothing more than a negotiation Personally I don’t see Trump imposing tariffs on Australia as he has bigger targets He has a disdain of China which stems from a lack

For 35 years, husband and wife duo Terrence and Rosemary Alick have been gathering, collating, and publishing maps and atlases of Queensland, the Northern Territory and New South Wales, and have since announced that they will be retiring in 2024.

Having purchased maps and atlases himself, Dan Tyson in our Rockhampton office took the opportunity to speak with Terrence about his journey over the years

How did you get into it?

1988 while working on a sheep station, 60 klms south of Longreach when my parents contacted me regarding a property dispute we packed up the family and moved to Gracemere to help sort it out While there I had to continue getting work and went mustering on places, but because they had been cut off from something else the locals either didn't know the name or exactly where it was So this is how it all started I then asked for some help from Gov cartographers who were keen to help

How has it evolved over the years?

We started off using some of the older property boundaries and only being able to fit in a property name in blocks larger than 3000 ha Now we have access to the latest property boundaries, roads, rail, NPs etc and we now use a mapping programme

What changes have you seen in the industry or your approach?

A lot of properties are still family owned with more diversity such as goats and more chance of off farm income May I just note that one of the
