New straws have been introduced in food and beverage to replace paper straws. Sorbos is the first edible, flavored, and 100% biodegradable and ecofriendly straw in the world. The best part? They will stay rigid in cold drinks for over 40 minutes!
These delightful new straws contain no allergens, soy, or GMOs, they are also gluten free! Sorbos straws do not contain any plastics, including their wrappers which are completely compostable
Currently, we have lime flavored straws. We hope you’ll try one in your next beverage and help us do our part in combatting plastic pollution!

The Granite Golf Club restaurant is using a new beverage supplier named Food Pantree. Each time we place an order for beverages, Food Pantree plants a tree on our behalf

Our reusable hot beverage promotion has launched again, with all new mugs for 2024. We have sold 82 cups to date, thus greatly reducing the use of paper products

Staff have been given training on the proper disposal of waste, including our compost and recycling guidelines and rules
A new paperless initiative has been discussed, to allow starters with electronic access to the tee sheet, to avoid printing multiple tee sheets each day and cut down on paper waste
Currently, plastic tees are being used on our golf course. In a new effort to get one step closer to being as environmentally conscious as possible, the golf team will be researching the opportunity to switch to a more eco-friendly tee option in the future.

This year marks 20 years of Audubon certification at Granite Golf Club This certification from Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program is an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf
Wildflowers are also being planted throughout the property on holes 5, 6, 9, 13, and 17

Aly implemented a new zero paper hiring process for the 2024 golf season. This process allows all candidates to not only apply to the positions they are interested in directly through the Granite Golf Club website, but brings them through the entire hiring on onboarding process digitally.
In the past, each new hire had to print and fill out 15 pages of paperwork from offer letters and employee information forms, to tax forms etc. Now, the entire process is done through our HR system, digitally This year, we saved 1590 pieces of paper.
