Emily Eaton While the majority of Lanthorn writers come from a journalism background, it takes a dedicated writer to come from a different major. Emily came into the Lanthorn as if she has been writing columns her entire life, sharing with the newspaper team and GVSU community her takes on life and love. Unapologetic but quick to call even herself out, Emily proved that there is both a writer and a lover in everyone as long as they look in the mirror with introspection and humility. Kellen Voss Kellen has proven to be an absolute goliath in the Lanthorn newsroom, entirely aside from him standing ahead over his peers. His 3.5 years of service gave the Lanthorn a sports writer and editor it could rely on, especially as a reporter who covers sports in a way that highlights the stories beyond a scoreboard. He also proved that sports reporters could exit their niche and handle hard news stories like a seasoned veteran. His path was far from a straight and simple one, but when the going got tough, Kellen got revved up. While we will miss him next semester, we’re confident his infectious personality, swagger, and journalistic prowess will brighten any newsroom he visits.
