Memberships

Members have access to the game room and basketball gym. A membership is required to participate in most programs and open play hours. See below for the Fitness Room Membership.

Youth (6 – 15) $7/year

Fitness Room

Enjoy the spacious and newly renovated fitness room at the Charley Taylor Recreation Center. Fitness Room Membership includes access to areas mentioned above. The fitness room features: cycle bike, row machine, stationary recumbent bike, step master, treadmills, dumbbells, smith machine, a small CrossFit corner, and more. $11.50/month or $108/year

Room Rentals

Multipurpose Room

Looking for a rental space for a special celebration? Charley Taylor has one multipurpose room that can seat 80-100 people. Meeting room rentals are $25 per hour during business hours and $50 per hour after hours. A kitchen add-on is also available for an additional $30 fee. Outside the center there is a playground that rentals may use, but please note it is also open to the general public. Outside food and drinks are allowed. Alcohol is not permitted.

Full court: $60/hour

Open Play Volleyball

Ages 16+. Volleyball is back by popular demand. Open for all skill levels to enjoy. Membership or $4 day pass required.

Three easy steps to becoming a volunteer coach for sports leagues in Grand Prairie:

Open Play Basketball

Ages 16+. Enjoy open play basketball at Charley Taylor Recreation Center. Open for all skill levels to enjoy. Membership or $4 day pass required.

Open Play Pickleball

Pickle ball is a fun and easy-to-learn game that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Membership, pickle ball plan or $4 day pass required.

M-Sat 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

After-School Program

Ages: 5-12. Pick up from Morton Elementary only. Participants enjoy a snack, homework help, organized games, crafts, computers, and more.

A+ Dance

Ages 6-13. A+ Dance Class participants learn a variety of dances such as modern, ballet, hip hop, and praise dance. These classes will get you out of your seat and on your feet! Fee: $30/ month + membership required.

Ballet Folklorico (Amor A Nuestra Cultura)

Ages: 3+. This class is preserving Latino culture and history through dance and education using Hispanic traditions from North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean. Amor a Nuestra Cultura has experience with various internationally recognized Ballet Folklorico instructors.

Fee: $45 per month + membership required.

Karate-Tae Kwon Do

Ages: 3+. Experience traditional Tae Kwon Do from the longest running Martial Arts Academy in Grand Prairie. Participants will learn white belt through black belt Karate. Emphasis is placed on self-discipline and selfesteem. Instructor: Bill Simpson.

Fee: $50 per month + membership required. $45/each additional family member.

Monthly Video Game Tournaments

Ages: 6+. Join the fun with monthly video game tournaments. Each month features a different video game. Preregistration required.

Fee: Free + membership required.

Mary It – Taking a Vow to Fitness

You’re invited to join Coach Caldwell for a spiritual workout which includes, prayer, meditation, stretching, and static and dynamic exercises. Don’t forget to bring a yoga mat!

Fee: $25/month + membership required.

Yoga Ages: 18+. Beginners and advanced will focus on breathing through asanas, finding balance and increasing flexibility. Don’t forget to bring a yoga mat, water, and a towel.

Fee: $15/month + membership required.

Pre-K Tee Ball League

Ages: 3 -5. This beginner’s league promotes sportsmanship, basic skill development, and skills in an active and safe learning environment. All games played at Waggoner Fields. Registration: March - April 2023

Fee: $75/child includes jersey and trophy. Fee is non-refundable once jerseys have been ordered.*
