25 YEARS OF CREATING OPPORTUNITY THROUGH MEANINGFUL WORK THE DIGNITY OF A JOB At the heart of Goodwill’s work is the belief that meaningful employment can help people build independence, confidence and a sense of purpose.
For 25 years, Goodwill Industries of Alberta has been a member of the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, growing alongside the business community while continuing to create meaningful employment opportunities for Albertans with disabilities. Goodwill is a non-profit social enterprise that connects Albertans with disabilities to meaningful jobs. The organization is one of the largest employers of Albertans with disabilities, providing employment through its thrift stores, donation centres, Impact Centre and commercial services division.

Through its career development program, Goodwill matches the skills and abilities of Albertans with disabilities to the needs of local employers. Its commercial services division supports local businesses through specialized assembly, packaging and other customized services. Since becoming a Chamber member, Goodwill has continued to expand its job training programs, reaching more Albertans year after year.
“Thousands of Albertans are finding joy through the power of work and the dignity of a job every year.”

connections help create more opportunities for the people Goodwill serves.
A MILESTONE MEASURED IN MORE THAN DONATIONS In 2025, Goodwill reached an impressive milestone, receiving more than one million donations. For Goodwill, that number represents far more than items collected. Those donations directly support the organization’s social enterprise model and its mission of creating employment opportunities. Goodwill is particularly proud that 25 per cent of its more than 1,200 employees have self-disclosed a disability—a reflection of its commitment to creating opportunities for people with disabilities. THE POWER OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT Goodwill describes community support and involvement as a two-way street. The organization contributes to the communities it serves, while businesses, individuals and community organizations contribute back. That relationship has been an important part of Goodwill’s experience as a Chamber member. Over the years, fellow Chamber members have supported Goodwill events, helped amplify its voice and contributed to its mission of serving people with disabilities and barriers to employment. Sometimes that support comes through a business relationship, while other times it is simply word of mouth or personal experience. Together, those

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY Goodwill’s commitment to community takes many forms, from providing employment supports to participating in initiatives that raise awareness and encourage inclusion. During Goodwill Week, for example, the Centre 2000 Sundial has been lit blue to help shine a light on Goodwill’s mission and the importance of creating opportunities for people with disabilities. For Goodwill, these efforts are part of a larger goal: helping make Alberta a better place to work, play and live. After 25 years as a Chamber member, Goodwill Industries of Alberta continues to demonstrate the impact that can come from bringing businesses, community organizations and individuals together around a shared purpose. Its story is ultimately about people—the people who find meaningful work, the businesses that help create opportunities, and the community members whose support helps make it all possible.

Growing with the Region, Rooted in Service Celebrating 25 years of Chamber membership and more than four decades of serving the Peace Region
For more than 45 years, Spring Fresh Mat & Linen Rentals Ltd. has been growing alongside the businesses and communities of the Peace Region. What began as a mat rental company has evolved into a full-service workplace solutions provider, offering mat rentals, uniform and coverall programs, washroom supplies, first aid rentals and other essential products that help workplaces operate safely, cleanly and professionally. That evolution has continued throughout Spring Fresh’s 25 years as a member of the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce. Over the years,

the company has expanded both its product and service offerings and its geographic reach, allowing it to serve customers across a much broader region. The acquisition of its Slave Lake branch helped extend Spring Fresh’s service area to communities including Edmonton, Wabasca, Athabasca, Red Earth Creek, Slave Lake, Grande Cache, Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Grande Prairie, along with surrounding areas. Through that growth, the company has remained focused on the same principles that have guided it from the beginning: exceptional

service, strong customer relationships and supporting the businesses that make local communities thrive. A significant milestone came with the move into Spring Fresh’s current facility. The new space provided room to support a growing team, expand operations and increase service capacity. Just as importantly, the company has built a team where employees have the opportunity to grow their careers, with many choosing to stay with Spring Fresh for years. Chamber membership has been another constant throughout that journey. Networking, advocacy, community events and professional development have helped Spring Fresh remain connected to the local business community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, timely information about changing regulations, available resources and support programs was particularly valuable, while Chamber training has provided practical knowledge that team members could bring back to the business.
