Today marks a milestone moment for Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) and the entire Grande Prairie region with the grand opening of the Spartan Controls Northwestern Centre for Industrial Automation & Innovation.

This state-of-the-art facility—made possible through a $11.3 million investment from the Government of Alberta and a $5 million capital campaign—positions our region at the forefront of advanced education, skills training, and industry collaboration.

“Deeper integration with industry is what this Centre is all about,” said Douglas Ndegwa, CEO of Spartan Controls, noting that Spartan has proudly called the region home and has been a valued Chamber member for over 30 years. “We are investing in the next generation of talent to ensure businesses have the expertise they need to thrive.”

Alberta Called: A New Campaign to Attract Skilled Talent to NW Alberta

WORK NW Alberta—a partnership between the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, MD of Greenview, and Northwestern Polytechnic—has launched a boldnewregionaltalentattractioncampaign:ALBERTACALLED.

Expanding rural access to

Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie welcomes firstyearmedicalstudentsasAlbertacelebratesanewmilestone forruralaccesstohealthcare.

Increasing access to family doctors and other health care professionalsinruralandnorthernareasisapriorityforAlberta’s government. On Sept. 2, the Northern Alberta Medical Program officially welcomed its first cohort of 30 medical students to Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie, beginning a new chapterinmedicaleducationinAlberta.

ThenewprograminGrandePrairieispartofAlberta’sinvestment of about $376 million over four years to increase the number of graduates from Alberta’s medical schools. Under the Northern Alberta Medical Program, the University of Alberta has partnered with Northwestern Polytechnic to deliver Doctor of Medicine education at the Rural Medical Education Program Training CentreinGrandePrairie.TheUniversityofCalgaryhaspartnered with the University of Lethbridge to deliver Doctor of Medicine education through a similar centre now under development in Lethbridge.

Canada announces new partnership with Germany on critical minerals and energy

Canada’s new government has a mandate to strengthen anddiversifyourinternationalrelationships.Inthefaceofa shifting global trade landscape, that mandate has only increased in importance.
