Board of Aldermen Approve Valley Speedway Permit, Welcome New Officer

Grain Valley Police Department welcomed a new officer at the March 25th Board of Aldermen meeting. Officer Kevin Bellmeyer was sworn in office by City Clerk Theresa Osenbaugh.

Khalilah Holland, Human Resources Administrator and Deputy City Clerk, was recognized by Mayor Todd with a proclamation in recognition of her recent designation as a Missouri Registered City Clerk.

In other business, the City approved an ordinance renewing the Conditional Use Permit for Valley Speedway to operate a racetrack facility at 348 East Old US 40 Highway. The permit allows Valley Speedway to hold a maximum of 45 race car events per year between April 1st and October 31st. No weeknight events are allowed on nights in which the Grain Valley Schools have class the following day, and all weeknight events must be completed by 10:30pm. The maximum sound level at the track must be 85 decibels until 10:00pm, and 80 decibels from 10:00pm—11:00pm.

In addition, the 9th and final plat in Phase B of Rosewood Hills subdivision was approved. There will be an 8 foot trail constructed on the east side of Dillingham with this plat.

The next meeting of the Board of Aldermen will be held Monday, April 11th at 7:00pm at Grain Valley City Hall.
