Topic: ‘A 21st century approach to mental health care’ Professor Patrick McGorry is a leading international researcher, clinician and advocate for the youth mental health reform agenda. He is Executive Director of Orygen Youth Health (OYH), a world-renowned mental health organisation for young people that has put Australia at the forefront of innovation in the prevention and treatment of mental illness. Professor McGorry is also a founding board member of headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. His extraordinary 27-year contribution to the improvement of the youth mental health sector has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of young people the world over.

Centenary Celebration Launch Cocktail Party
With well over 100 members in attendance on Wednesday 4 May, speeches were given by the Graduate Union Chairman Mr David Sparks, our President the Hon John Cain and the Centenary Committee Chair Mrs Glenda Fisher. Dr David McCredie was awarded an Honorary Life Membership for his outstanding contribution to medicine, particularly children’s health and a cake was presented to the Graduate Union to celebrate our Birthday. Dr McCredie kindly cut the cake which was followed by a rendition of Happy Birthday by all in attendance. The food and wine flowed throughout the evening with guests enjoying something different as our Assistant Cook Nelson, displayed flair when preparing a stir fry served on individual Asian spoons at his station situated within the function room. We all look forward to further celebrations to commemorate our Centennial year!

Professor Jack Keating Wednesday, 1st June 2011 Noon for 12.30pm Graduate House 220 Leicester Street Carlton Professor Jack Keating is the Leader of the Education Policy and Leadership Unit within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne. He has extensive experience in the post compulsory education and training sectors and has undertaken a number of studies in the area of post compulsory youth transition and qualifications. Professor Keating was the main author of the Kirby Report into post compulsory education and training pathways in Victoria. He has undertaken research and consultancy work in post compulsory education and training for the Commonwealth and most state education and training authorities, and for a number of international agencies, including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the ILO, OECD and UNESCO. In 2001-2 he managed the OECD activity on qualifications and lifelong learning and he has continued to participate in this activity.
