Since her first year of teaching, she has been advocating for alignment in education services to bring families the education they deserve and educators the professional recognition they deserve. Peter McMullin Australian lawyer, businessman and philanthropist Topic: The University, Human Rights and Philanthropy Peter is the Chairman and Director of McMullin Group and Special Counsel for Cornwall. He has an extensive legal and business career encompassing prominent roles in public and private sectors. With a deep-seated interest in community affairs, Peter uses his experience wherever possible to further many causes. He believes in the important role of the private sector in leading to resolution pressing societal issues. Peter has spent his career forging positive, constructive partnerships between the private sector and governments, the not-for-profit sector and educational institutions. As an active philanthropist, Peter seeks to collaborate with other individuals and organisations to maximise the impact of his contributions. A recent example is his generous support to establish the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness at the Law School of The University of Melbourne. Well-known and well-respected, Peter’s previous roles include: • • • • • • • • •

The redeveloped Stella Langford Wing was completed in 2010 and provides three meeting rooms on the ground floor, ten residential self-contained apartments and a multi-storey car park. The academic meeting rooms are the Cochrane Room, Hewlett Room and Taylor Room.

Jubilee Endowment Fund 2021 How to become a 110th Anniversary Jubilee Donor The Graduate Union of The University of Melbourne has been providing specialised services to university graduates for 110 years, since its establishment in 1911. To mark this milestone anniversary, we are establishing an Endowment Fund in perpetuity. We invite 110 Donors to contribute $5,000 each to the fund. They will be known as our 110th Anniversary Jubilee Donors. Their special contribution will be acknowledged and they will be presented with a commemorative plaque crafted by renowned international Australian artist, Charles Billich. This will be the first of other fundraising initiatives for contributions towards our Endowment Fund. The income from this fund will be used to support and deliver much-needed and much-appreciated services to our members, students and residents at Graduate House. WHO WE ARE The Graduate Union and The Graduate House are unique. We are an association of graduates, a residential college for undergraduates and postgraduates and a graduate meeting place. It was established 110years ago as a graduate membership association with The University of Melbourne. 60 years ago we became a residential college specifically for universitygraduates.
