It really felt like a real BBQ!

It’s been a long while since we’ve seen a BBQ event at Graduate House this vibrant and ‘happening’! The Welcome BBQ on Friday, 25th of March, had it all — the chargrilled aroma, the chattering, the bustle, and most importantly, our members - Resident members and non-resident members, who made the event possible by just being there. Open to all members of our association, the BBQ is held every year at the start of the summer semester term to welcome our new residents, returning residents and for everyone to meet and greet one another while enjoying good food. Non-resident members who attended — Howard Hutchins, Emily Cross, Cr Max Stephens, Cr Muan Lim, former member of Council Andre Cleghorn, Katrina Goodman and others — we hope you enjoyed the evening as much as our Resident members did. The outdoor courtyard was a full house as Resident members took advantage of the sunshine and enjoyed the rich and smoky smell from the fire which was burning until sunset. It was also pleasing to see everyone savouring the last minute addition to the menu, the Malaysian chicken satay, served with peanut sauce and with compressed rice, fresh cucumber and onions as accompaniments. The raffle ticket draws drew much excitement from the crowd. Congratulations to our lucky winners who walked away with bottles of wine and chocolates! Thank you Resident member Suzy, for your feedback: Great! two thumbs up! I love the food! The chicken is so tender, you can taste a bit of charcoal and it’s just perfect BBQ chicken. The chicken satay skewers are just heavenly, so flavoursome and I think I ate 10. The night just smells great. The background noise of people chit chatting is music to the ears. The food is too good to feel anything other than thankfulness and satisfaction. Thank you Shirley for the yummy satay! The best!!
