GRADUATE
ASSISTANTSHIPS
Graduate research, teaching, and service assistantships are available on an annual or nine-month basis. Applicants will need to contact the department for their specific graduate assistantship application requirements.
We facilitate a multitude of financial transactions and processes at the university, and provide assistance, advice, and answers on various financial matters. We strive to provide these services in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner.
A fellowship provides financial support for graduate students to pursue graduate studies without associated teaching or research responsibilities (as they are in a teaching or research assistantship).
The Graduate School offers Travel Assistance Grants for Graduate Students (TAGGS) in support of Master’s and PhD graduate students who plan to travel to national or international conferences and give a presentation. Grants are offered for two travel periods each academic year.

The Mississippi State University Writing Center dedicates itself to helping all MSU students develop as writers and critical thinkers. Thus, the mission of Mississippi State’s Writing Center is simple: our goal is to support the writing that is happening on campus.
MSU’s Mitchell Memorial Library provides info on a wide variety of professional development programs such as various workshops and more. Some of the library resources include: research consultation services, digital media workshop, computer labs, and more.
The Office of Thesis and Dissertation Format Review, located on the first floor of Mitchell Memorial Library, reviews theses and dissertations for formatting compliance based on the standards required by MSU.
As an MSU student, we realize you arrive to campus with specific, individual needs. The Career Center is committed to offering an array of programs and services to align with finding a career that is best for you.
The Preparing Future Faculty certificate program is coordinated and taught by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The program is intended to assist current graduate students in preparing for future faculty careers.
The Graduate Student Association (GSA) provides programs and services to enrich the graduate student experience and promotes, supports, and represents graduate student interests and values. The GSA holds monthly meetings to provide a forum for graduate students to network with peers, learn about valuable campus support services, and express concerns on both academic and non-academic issues as well as sponsors multiple events throughout the year.
The Sanderson Center serves as a recreational center for MSU students. It houses an indoor gym, basketball court, running track, rock wall, pool, racquetball court, volleyball court, intramural sports tournaments, personal trainers, and more.
The Counseling Center is staffed by licensed psychologists, licensed professional counselors, and social workers, as well psychology and counselor education interns. The services offered at the Counseling Center are accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS).
The Longest Student Health Center offers a wide variety of general health and wellness services to ensure students are in the best of health. Our providers are knowledgeable in a variety of fields and strive to help students understand common ailments while also providing treatment options.
