You have achieved a truly remarkable mi lestone in your academic career. I am sure that the road was not easy, and that you persisted and overcame challenges in pursuit of your goal of earning the title of Doctor. It is a great pleasure for us to participate in this special recognition of the hooding ceremony. The hooding itself is an act ive reminder of the welcoming of you into the intellectual community as peers, members who have reached the highest academic accomplishment. No matter your career trajectory, you will wear the mantel of your doctoral education into everything you do.

In addit ion to you own recognition, it is important that we also acknowledge your contributions, through your r esearch efforts, to the university’s broader success.
